    You can get a really accurate remage barrel and save all the gunsmith labor $. I have tried factory barrels at that distance and always ended up changing barrels to get the accuracy I needed.

    Elk Hunt - 300 WM

    I accidently fired 5 rounds without putting on ear protection first over a 1 year period from my 300wm with a brake on it and I'm currently being evaluated for hearing aids. It was extremely painful each time.

    At that distance I would go with a 6.5cm. "At 1,000 yards, the . 308 drops 372.1 inches. The 6.5 drops 319.8 inches. That's over 16% more drop."

    I use DBM 300wm CIP length for 300prc. Accurate mags 300wm 3.850" CIP magazines works for 300 prc with no lip adjustments.

    I'm really old so my advise might be dated. I would go with a 30-06 out to 300 yards and a 300wm for beyond 300 yards.

    I agree a 300wsm is a very good all around cartridge. prc brass is too hard to come by right now.

    Looking for a 1,000 yard scope.

    I shoot 21x and 25x Bushnell and S&B scopes at 1000 yards but I have also had very good luck with 16x scopes at that distance. The glass must be very clear for consistent hits. You can find a good 16x variable scope for $500 to $800.

    I'm right handed and only shoot left handed rifles right handed. It puts the bolt and port on the side where I can see what's going on. It's faster because you don't have to remove your trigger hand from the rifle. It wouldn't work if I was shooting, while standing. I wouldn't be able the hold...
