    Folder vs non folder options

As someone who has a couple folders, that's been my experience. I have had fantasies of stuffing a folded rifle in a pack or slinging one on my back while I hike/ride/whatever to a location, but reality to this point has been that I can drive right up to where I need to go with my rifle safely...

    Hunting rig chambering?

Primary consideration (for me) for a hunting rifle is the ability to find ammo at the backwoodsest country store you ever heard of ('cause shit happens), so I say go long action and either 7mm Rem Mag or 300 Win Mag.

    Gunsmithing 4R rifling?

I have a 3R AR barrel. I haven't had a chance to get to the range with it yet, but it's sure odd looking down the barrel and seeing so few lands/grooves.

So, uh, it turns out that decimal places matter...

I have been having a problem with one of my rifles (Tikka T3) not being able to reliably fire ammo that I reloaded. I've been cussing at this thing off and on for a few months now, disassembling the bolt, polishing the firing pin, etc... None of it...

    Goldilocks - which "middle" 7mm?

    I see it like this: 7mm-08 = small .284Win/.284AI = medium 7mm WSM/SAUM/Rem Mag/LRM = large 7mm-300 Norma/28 Nosler = extra large This opinion is worth everything you've paid for it.

Suppressors Lead bullets through sealed can

I'm looking for 500+ grainers... for subs, I look for as much weight as I can get because of muzzle velocity (obviously) being limited. I bought some Lee bullet sizing dies today (.454 and .452, so I can take projectiles down in two steps), so I'll be able to do some playing in the upcoming...

Suppressors Lead bullets through sealed can

The reason I'm looking into this is because I recently had a (bolt) rifle re-chambered from 450 Bushmaster to 45 Raptor, and when looking for heavy projectiles to load for subsonic loads, I'm not finding anything especially heavy in a .452 diameter... so I am thinking about swaging down some...

Stainless vs Chrome Moly Barrel Accuracy

I recall reading somewhere (on the Internet... and they can't put it on the Internet if it isn't true; I read that on the Internet, too) that the prevalence of SS in custom barrels has to do with its machining qualities... like, it doesn't chew up tooling as quickly as CM does, or it's easier to...

Savage Mark ii - Good for NRL22?

I have a MkII, and I've only experienced the extractor issue once. A brief chamber cleaning (more of just a wipe down, really) resolved the issue, and I haven't seen it since (though I'm keeping an eye on it).

Suppressors Lead bullets through sealed can

Given that the gas check is crimped on to the bullet, I wouldn't think so, but I could be wrong. Regardless, I wouldn't expect the gas check to do much damage if it did hit a baffle simply due to the lack of weight; I mean, don't get me wrong, I wouldn't want it to happen, but if it did, I would...

    Can you ID this logo?

    Hurst shifters (no, not really)

How much hold over until you dial?

It really depends on the size of the target... I've found that it's difficult to accurately hold tenths of a mil (say, the difference between 3.2 and 3.3) when trying to engage small targets (prairie dogs) at moderate (300+ yards) distances. Generally if I can hit my target being +/- .1 mil of...

Suppressors Anyone ever try one of these "Fuel Filters" from LAFOAUTO?

I'd trust it for rimfire use, but that's about it.

Suppressors Lead bullets through sealed can

So, we all know that it's a bad idea to run lead bullets through a sealed can, but what if they're gas checked? In case you're unfamiliar, gas checks are these little copper caps that go on the ass end of cast lead bullets, and are there to allow for higher pressures to be run without resulting...

Locked out of my Safe (Not a good day)

Here's one that I cleaned up awhile back. Built when things were absolutely done to the best of one's ability, rather than with a cost target in mind.

    450 bushy problem

If it was me, I'd go with a Tubb flat wire spring, a rifle length H2 buffer, and a good adjustable gas block.

Locked out of my Safe (Not a good day)

Yeah, those cannonballs are pretty amazing. Impractical for a lot of uses and expensive, but impressive nonetheless. Just the machining to cut the threads interfacing between the door and the body boggles the mind, to say nothing of jeweled mechanisms for mechanical time locks. True functional...

Locked out of my Safe (Not a good day)

Oh, yes, security device manufacturers get quite diabolical with the content of poured ("concrete") liners. Again, without going into too much detail, there are all sorts of randomly distributed treats that can be found between the inner lining and the outer shell of TL__x6 safes. The thing is...

Locked out of my Safe (Not a good day)

Something else to keep in mind is that "brute force" attacks on guessing the combo would be quite time consuming due to the time-out function of the lock. Most E-locks have a 5-minute timeout if 3 incorrect passwords in a row are entered. So, you get to try 3 (incorrect) combos, then grab a...

Locked out of my Safe (Not a good day)

I'm looking forward to seeing what you come up with. FWIW, I am 100% positive that the combo is retained in the lock body, because we've had to swap keypads before; it's as simple as unplugging the old one and plugging in the new one. Nonetheless, I will gladly admit that there is plenty that...
