    BRN-180s no go

Man, this is disappointing... I really want the BRN-180s to work; it's a cool concept that allows for some flexibility in the AR platform.

    Howa Mini DBM improvements?

There are no alternatives that I am aware of. That said, the Howa factory mags work great for me in both .223 and x39.

How do people have full auto weapons?

Re: full auto... having limited experience with it (a drum through an RPK, a mag through an M16, and half a mag through an M16 w/ .22LR conversion), I can echo the sentiments above... good for putting a smile on your face due to the novelty of it, but pretty useless in practical scenarios for...

Can someone help me understand 6mm fandom?

Ah, the 3200 FPS cap is something that I was missing... because even with the heaviest projectiles, I'm guessing that something like 22 Creedmoor can break that barrier quite easily (and in fact would need to in order to be used to its full potential). As for the concepts of sectional density...

Can someone help me understand 6mm fandom?

Okay, I'm probably going to start a shitstorm with this... but I really don't understand being a big fan of 6mm chamberings. It seems to me that if you're target shooting and simply looking to make hits, that projectiles in the .224 diameter offer better drag numbers (grain-for-grain), and if...

    straight walled cartridge options?

I've recently begun playing with a 45 Raptor, and something to note is that if you want to, sizing .458 projectiles down to .452 (45 Raptor diameter) is pretty easy with Lee bullet sizing dies. I do it in two steps (.454, .451). Unfortunately, I haven't had a chance to get to the range with it...

Let's talk about parts not available we want

Don't get me wrong, 6.8 if you want to 6.8... but sometime back when I was planning a 16" barreled hunting-oriented build, the load data that I could find for both the Grendel and the SPC showed results close enough as to be effectively interchangeable for similarly weighted projectiles...

Screamin' deal on Howa 6 Creedmoor hunter barreled action

From what I can tell (I am guessing, based on an old Howa catalog that listed muzzle diameters for various barrel lengths), it'll accept a 1/2-28 thread with an appropriate shoulder, and a 9/16-24 thread if you don't care too much about shoulder diameter... but I'd guess that a 5/8-24 would be a...

Screamin' deal on Howa 6 Creedmoor hunter barreled action

Brownell's for $249. Hunter (light) weight barrel, but get while the gettin' is good.

Screamin' deal on Howa 6 Creedmoor hunter barreled action

I'll probably go with something from Boyd's; the price is right, and the aesthetic with the hunter-weight barrel will be, too.

Screamin' deal on Howa 6 Creedmoor hunter barreled action

If I convince someone else to spend money, that cancels out my spending, right? That's how that works? :-P

Screamin' deal on Howa 6 Creedmoor hunter barreled action

That's very much my take on it. I mean, I don't need to spend the money right now, and a little more than a year ago I basically built very nearly this same gun (Howa 1500 barreled action, 8-twist Brux #3/medium sporter finished at 22" chambered in 6mm Creedmoor) at considerably higher overall...

My POF shot like a POS

Apples and oranges, but I have a 7mm-08 bolt gun that shot Superformance into a ~3" pattern at 100 yards. I'm far from the best shooter to ever get behind a gun, but I'm damn sure better than THAT. I haven't had a chance to try anything else, but before I get cranky and send the gun in to get...

SHTF Carbine: What Trigger Would YOU Use?

Hiperfire. When functioning as designed they have extra oomph on hammer fall, and if the fancy bits fail somehow, you're left with a trigger that still functions (though offers a heavier pull and standard power hammer fall).

    Sig MPX K 9mm

As with @bonifacio, I kinda made my own, though I went about it in a different manner; I purchased a 4.5" barrel from ILWT that has a built-in three lug adapter, and an adjustable gas plug from them as well. Mine's still a bit gassy when shooting suppressed (the only way I shoot it, as my 9mm...

    Suppressed Lube

This is one of my rabbit holes. At the moment, I'm using a thin coat of a paste with high MOS2 content (Jet Lube MP-50). I haven't had a chance to really run a stress test yet, but the theory is that the MOS2 is a great dry lube, so even as carbon, etc... adheres to the paste, it'll slide off...

    Magpul hunter 700 stock

There's nothing at all wrong with Boyd's stocks; I own several. As long as you take the time to verify/fit everything, they perform just fine and (IMO) look great doing it. I've done a redneck bedding job (JB Weld) on most of mine just for extra peace of mind.

    5.56 tavor vs 300blk sbr

I don't know, off the top of my head, of any data sources, but doing a little math (and making a couple of assumptions) leads to the following conclusions: A 125 gr projectile with an impact velocity of 2000 FPS has 1110 ft/lb of energy ASSuming that it sheds, say, 3/4 of its energy in the bad...

    5.56 tavor vs 300blk sbr

Close. ish. I'm talking about using .308 Win in a self-defense scenario. In a "I feared for my life and/or the lives of my loved ones" type of situation where you use a firearm against someone, it'd be difficult to make the "I thought he was gonna kill me" case for anyone more than, say, 25 or...
