Hunting & Fishing .50 cal muzzle loader bullets and powder charges

Just checking to see: 1. what .50 cal muzzle loader bullets people use and the results they get on game, specifically deer with them. and 2. What powder charges people are using and the results. I have been using 100 grains of powder (50 grain pre-formed charges), but I recently got a magnum...

    reloading equipment storage

I just moved into a new house and planned on setting up my reloading bench in the basement. Given the properties of basements (damp, furnace, hot water tank, etc.), are there any problems with setting up my bench in the basement, about 15-20 feet away from the furnace and hot water tank. -Is...

Hunting & Fishing ballistic tips, after the shot...

After input received from another post, I think I'm going to try deer hunting with balistic tips this year. For those who have used them, I'm asking what after effects inside the deer you've had with fragmentation of the projectile. In your expiriences, does the round stay in tact in one...

Hunting & Fishing what 30-06 projectiles do you use

I am starting to reload for my 30-06 that I will use mostly for whitetail deer hunting, but may up it to bear in the future. I'm just wonding if some of you can share what projectiles you have used in your reloads for this caliber, and what results you've had after the shot. thanks, Jim

    question-back of projectile exposed/not jacketed

I bought some cheap 62 gr projectiles from MidwayUSA. The bullet is 90% jacketed, but the very rear/flat of the projectile is not jacketed/exposed (lead?). If firing this though an AR-15, can the exposed lead cause any issues down the road, IE excessive/damaging lead builup in the barrel/gas...

    powder charge for 5.56

I am reloading for 223/5.56 brass, however I can't seem to find any load data for the 5.56. I will be using Varget powder and doing load developments for 62, 69, and 75 grain bullets. I know that due to brass specs, the 5.56 has a higher pressures, should I just use 1-2 grains less powder...

    questions-reloading for AR's

I also posted this in the "reloading" forum, just checking to see if I get any additional opinions in here: I had a few questions about reloading for semi-autos and I was hoping some people could provide some input. I've done quite a bit of searching the forums, but I havn't found anything that...

    Questions on reloading for semi-autos

I had a few questions about reloading for semi-autos and I was hoping some people could provide some input. I've done quite a bit of searching the forums, but I havn't found anything that totally answers my questions: I am reloading for a Rock River 223/5.56 AR and a DPMS SASS 308/7.62 AR. I...
