Sidearms & Scatterguns Picked up a new FNH FN Five Seven

Had one for over a year now.. great gun, however I believe what you're going to find right now is ammo is almost impossible to find so if you have a source I recommend buying all you can afford. I've been reloading for 20 years and this round is by far the most difficult as it's extremely...

    Books for the new reloader

You may also check around for a local that can help you get started. At one time the bass pro shop in my town gave free reloading classes. Books are good but nothing like being taught by someone who's already reloading and knows what they are doing.

    Make notes when reloading

This is all good info.. keep it coming. I do 9 pistol calibers now and six rifle calibers. If I didn't document all of it I'd lose my mind constantly referencing load manuals which I still do but once you find your pet loads you don't need those much. I have load sheets for every caliber...

    Make notes when reloading

let me know how that turns out.. go slow and work the die down in increments until you get it where you want.

    Make notes when reloading

Sounds like a good story behind that.. Used to have my reloading bench in the spare bedroom but eventually caved to wife pressure and moved it after building a 760sq ft man cave. That's what she gets for pressuring me. lol Tell us your story and how it turned out.

    Make notes when reloading

If you get into the weird stuff like 9X25 Dillon, 5.7X28 and 40 Super you will probably need to make notes and reference those.. Especially with the 5.7X28 which is the more picky of the bunch. I'm sure there are other calibers out there which fall into the oddball category but those are the...

    Make notes when reloading

Just a reminder for those new to reloading.. make notes for each caliber you reload and reference those each time you work that caliber. You'll pick up tips and tricks as you go along and will want to document those. The more calibers you reload the less likely you are to remember these for...

    standard primers in 357

thanks.. with primers being so hard to find I cringed at the idea of potentially messing these up depriming.

    standard primers in 357

Answered my own question.. looking at Alliant's web site they show a load for the 125gr using Unique and standard pistol primers. Seems the magnum primers are more critical when using ball powders. I'll hunt down some Unique then get to loading. Gary

    standard primers in 357

thanks.. that's the best news I've heard all day. I just picked up 500 125gr jhp zero today.. Do you have a load for those with Unique? Gary

    standard primers in 357

Accidentally primed 200 pieces of 357 with standard pistol primers instead of magnum.. They have not been loaded with powder and I realized this shortly after priming the last round. If I stay on the lighter loads such as 125gr can I get away with using the standard primers or do I need to...

    6.5 X 06 brass

270 brass will work however be prepared to do a lot of trimming from 2.540 down to at least 2.494.. I decided to experiment with making 25-06 from 270 and way to much trimming.. did fifty and won't do any more. I suppose if you have a nice trimmer such as Giraud etc..then no biggie, otherwise...

Sidearms & Scatterguns Glock 21 spring question

Thanks for the head's up.. live and learn right? Once I'm all set up I'll report back and let the group know if it happens.. Do you know approximate number of rounds before I can expect this? thanks again, Gary

6.5creedmoor vs 260rem for long range competition

Best to neck up 243 brass or neck down 7mm-08 for the 260.. I've had success doing both. Necking down 308 will create thick necks. G

Sidearms & Scatterguns Glock 21 spring question

Ended up ordering a Tungsten 22lb spring from Glock Store along with an adapter to fit the Gen 4. A bit pricey but playing with odd cartridges comes at a price I guess. thanks for the info.. I'll let you know how it pans out.. barrel, dies and brass are on the way. Already have powder/primers...

    Sidearms & Scatterguns g29 in 10mm

I second this.. I have a G29 and love it. If you want to really spice things up get a Lone Wolf barrel in 9X25 Dillon and put some of those rounds through it. Ensure you load em with blue dot powder then put your shades on before firing. You'll have heads turning at the range I promise. And...

Sidearms & Scatterguns Glock 21 spring question

Guys, I'm about to play around with loading/shooting the .40 super. Probably order the Lone Wolf barrel tomorrow. Have the dies and brass on the way. I've read it's recommended to go with a 22 or 24lb spring when shooting this cartridge. I have a Gen 4 Glock 21 and seems all I've been...

    Anyone shooting a Savage 116 in .260?

I have a 116 in 6.5 Creedmoor but have yet to find what combination it likes. Plan to do more testing as weather warms. I do have a 111 in 260 and it's a tack driver with 125 gr Nosler partitions and 45gr of H414. Amazing for an ultra lite barrel. 3/8 group at 100 yards.

Forming 260 from 243 or 7mm-08, which is best?

Which do you guys think makes the best 260 brass besides real 260 brass? I've made it from 7mm-08 and haven't noticed any issues. Today I caught two bags of 243 at Bass Pro and grabbed them up as I remember some make 260 from that. thanks, Gary

    Neck Turning for factory guns

Thanks for all the great info.. interestingly enough that three shot group was with Nosler partitions. I'm going to scour 6mmbr.com now.
