    Gunsmithing 1/2-28 on a 7mm .284" ?

I had a barrel dealer recommend a 1/2"-28 muzzle thread for a sporter weight 7mm barrel. By my calculations that would leave a thin profile from bore to root of the thread at .109" seems a bit thin for my comfort level. Anybody have any guidance on this? I think it should be a 5/8" 24. Thanks

Struggling to find a lightweight case

I guess thats as good as a testimonial as it comes. I have been thinking that maybe a soft case to go in the Pelican may be a good thing. What vendors on here are good for Pelican?

Struggling to find a lightweight case

I have had a Pelican storm 3200 in the past. Great case's with alot of protection and a whole lot of weight. I am looking for a lightweight case with a 44" interior. It would be nice if I could fly with it if I had to. Any recommendations are appreciated.

6.5 PRC Primer Standard vs. Magnum

I have never tried standard vs magnum primers in a cartridge. Is dropping 10% ok or is that unnecessary?

6.5 PRC Primer Standard vs. Magnum

I have around 25 shots through my R700 in 6.5 PRC. I am going to get 100-150 before I do any load work. My intended load is 143ELDX, H1000, Hornady Brass, Fed210M. I loaded up some test loads to start break in and loaded from 56.0 to 58.5 to get a feel for pressure. At 58.5 (3 rounds) I...

Gunsmithing Piloted Finish Reamers: prebore or not?

I appreciate the advice. My approach has been on producing the most accurate chamber. Like anything, that's specific to my equipment, tooling and skill. Tool wear is not a factor for me at this point. Having done it both ways, I found prebore to produce better results, that is for me!

Some advice on fitting chassis to shooters?

I really appreciate the advice and information. I believe part of my problem is building everything perfect around prone and not compromising the fit for othe scenarios. Thank you! Charles

Some advice on fitting chassis to shooters?

That doesn't seem to be my problem, I can usually work around the small change. Its primary a eye relief problem driven by length of pull. Tomorrow I am going to try and find some middle ground as others have suggested. As a side note, I always thought this problem was isolated to...

Gunsmithing Piloted Finish Reamers: prebore or not?

Thanks, I forgot to mention this was the first time I tried using the copper wire as a interface with the barrel and spider. Seemed to work very well and limited the stress input.

Gunsmithing Piloted Finish Reamers: prebore or not?

I wanted to leave some feed back for others on my experience with this topic. I decided to try preboring a practice chamber before my next barrel. I used many of the techniques suggested by Gordy Gritters in his latest book. I drilled to about .200" shy of finished length. I bored it true...
