Rifle Scopes Vortex Razor HD 4.5-27x56mm Gen II T&E Report

These threads are killing me! I went ahead and purchased a Bushnell XRS 4.5-30x50mm as these were a few months out form being available. The XRS is a nice scope but I'm not blown away by any means. It tracks great and I like the reticle (G2) but the glass leaves me wanting a bit more on the...

    Berger 185gr Juggernaut testing

Very nice shooting! I gotten a few 3 shot groups down like that but never 5 out of this rifle.

    Berger 185gr Juggernaut testing

I'll have to keep an eye out for some R17 to try, that's very good velocity out of a 22" barrel. I have also been told to try VV N540 with the 185's but I haven't had any luck finding any. I keep an eye out on the Widener's wedsite for powder as they're semi-local for me and I can pick it up...

    Berger 185gr Juggernaut testing

I'm really trying to stay to magazine length but I'm going to test from jam back to my starting OAL. Magazine length will give me .080" off the lands. If I find I need to run them longer I'll just single feed them and use the 175 VLDs for the magazine. Yeah I'm working on rounding up a...

    Berger 185gr Juggernaut testing

I picked some of the Juggernauts up for load testing out of my DTA SRS. Although not as accurate as the 175gr VLD Hunters out of my rifle so far these aren't horrible and maybe with a little seating adjustment may actually work. The testing was done at 119 yards, with Varget powder, Federal...

    Concentrisity question

I voted "not sure but I do anyway" because I always try to achieve good concentrisity even though I magazine feed all my rounds, or mostly all.

    Concentrisity question

Ok, just a simple question, is there any need to worry about perfect concentrisity (i.e. high end micrometer/body sleeve seating dies) when loading for a practical/tactical bolt gun being magazine fed? If you vote and want to share your opinion please do.

Hacksaw+Rem 5r= Poor man's Gladius? *Updated with results in 1st post*

Did you mean to post a pic or some groups or what, LOL?

    Berger's VLD load testing

I think that's exactly what I'll do, thanks for the reply. The one hole group was one of those "WOW" moments. I'm actually still getting the feel of the SRS and that one made me grin. I would shoot the 2 groups at each OAL, pull a bore snake down the tube, and then go change the target. I...

Wasn't sure if you kept the Gen 1 adaptors in stock or not. Thought I'd pick one up just to set back for the future project. Just to keep from having any unexpected wait if they we not available at the time.

Oh yeah, I might as well post this up here too. I'd like to say they all looked like this but........... Every dog has a lucky day!! 3 shots, 119 yards, 175gr Berger VLD .040" off the lands

That reminds me, I need to call DTA and see if they have any Gen 1 barrel adaptors in stock for an upcoming barrel project.

    Berger's VLD load testing

Yes the jumps were quiet wide but that's how Berger suggested running the test. I think what I'll do is take the loads with the most consistent groups and go +/- .003" and .006". Also all but one of the loads are to mag length. My SRS mag can run 2.920" OAL max. Running from 2.800" to 2.950"...

    Berger's VLD load testing

Each page is the same load data as written in the description part of the target. Berger suggests doing 2 3 shot groups at each OAL. The first 2 groups were touching the lands at 2.950". The next 2 groups were -.040". Each increment was -.040" down to 2.830" OAL. The last group was the only...

    Berger's VLD load testing

I recently read Berger's article on VLD load testing and thought I'd give it a try. I started off touching the lands (2.950") and then subtracted .040" down to 2.830". Then I loaded the last group at the normal suggested OAL from a manual (2.800"). These are from once fired brass, prepped and...

If you're referring to the adjustable cheek riser on the A1 rifles then the riser itself is attached directly to the chassis. The skins themselves are actually cut to go around the cheek riser.

Thanks for the heads up! From what I've read it usually only poses problems when inching toward your upper limits on pressure. I've also read many think it's completely acceptable and not to worry about it. Edit: Greg beat me to the info

My gun is one of the original Gen 1, I think it's within the first 100 chassis' produced if I'm reading correctly on how the serial numbers went. Edit: Do you know, or recommend, any certain smith to do the bushing?
