    Hornady GS1500 problems

Yeah! and like I said I know more than one guy who use it with no problems. I didn't get a chance to call Hornady today, but I did have a chance to order the charge master against my wife's better judgement. haha

    Gunsmithing skim bedding?

No problem, if you need any help let me know. I'm no expert but I did a LOT of research before bedding my McMillan and it was nerve wrecking but came out really good. If you just stay neat, organized, and pay attention to detail, it'll come out good. Good luck

    Gunsmithing skim bedding?

Lowes and Home Depot have it in the section with all the cleaners like 409 and floor wax stuff like that. When I bedded my rifle I just used the regular action screws but some guys make their own out of a long bolt and wrap them in electrical tape so no bedding gets in the pillar hole. You can...

Looking for suggestions on a stock.

If you're buying from the manufacturer or a website there should be dimensions for barrel diameter. Measure your barrel and compare. Best bet however is to call McMillan or Manners, whatever you decide to go with and they'll hook you up. The guys at McMillan helped me out a lot.

    Hornady GS1500 problems

Thanks for all the troubleshooting I'll be sure to check everything for certain when I get home but I can answer some things now. -It reads the same no matter where the pan is on the scales pad. -There are no fluorescent lights around -Before I get set up it close the vent on the ceiling...

    Hornady GS1500 problems

My Hornady GS1500 seems to lose calibration after a few weighings. I calibrate it every time I use it and just now I noticed it'll zero out... and then after maybe five rounds of loading 43.2 grains, I'll get a weight of 43.0. I'm using a Lee perfect powder measure so that seems normal to me...

    Gunsmithing skim bedding?

There are many good release agents that work. Johnson's paste wax is very good and can be bought locally at most stores. If you're asking "do you coat the action screws with release agent" then yes absolutely. Watch STR's videos of bedding on youtube if you want a good idea of how it's done.

    Gunsmithing To rebarrel or wait.

I was just in this scenario about a week or so ago haha I've slowly been adding to my rifle over the past year or so. I have 534 rounds through the stock SPS barreled action and can usually get 1/2 moa at 100, depending if I have a flyer or not from my hand loads, maybe better. I've decided I'll...

Gunsmithing Looking for a good place to get my rifle Cerakoted in Florida...

I would stick with cerakote. Hydro dipping is cool because of the graphics but a good shop can do some sweet stuff with cerakote also. How long the hydro dip lasts or how easy it scratches depends on the clear coat used but I would definitely go with cerakote. It'll probably be more expensive...

Gunsmithing Looking for a good place to get my rifle Cerakoted in Florida...

Precision Tactical in Crestview, Florida (Northwest FL) does some outstanding cerakote work. Depending on where you're at you can give them a call and Ward will hook you up.

    Gunsmithing Bedding question

I just got back from the range and I am very happy with the gun and it's performance. It runs smooth and once I got the scope re-zero'd I shot some pretty decent groups. The barreled action is a remington 700 SPS 1:12 and I'm shooting 175gr SMK over 43.2gr IMR 4064 in Lapua brass with Fed 210m...

Gunsmithing WTF is wrong with my trigger?

We got it all figured out, something was wrong with the trigger. Neither I or the smith could get it set so I bought a new one and I'll be sending that one back to timney sometime soon. Thank you though.

    Gunsmithing Bedding question

Oh I didn't mean anything by it! I know what you mean though, I chipped the bedding a little bit and it bugs me but hopefully I'll be able to get out and shoot Monday and have some results up. I think the grayish color the devcon turned out looks alright with the desert stock. And thank you!

    Gunsmithing Bedding question

Oh yeah I got it pretty close. I'm glad I didn't have to do it 3 times! Lol I definitely learned a lot and it was a good experience. Thanks!

    Gunsmithing Bedding question

For the most part yes. it's still a tiny tiny bit to the right but I can live with that. Before it was almost touching.

Gunsmithing WTF is wrong with my trigger?

This was a 510 and the pin was riding forward as I locked or slammed the bolt. The only way I could get it to not to do that, the trigger pull would be around 4.5 pounds and the creep was rediculous. Definitely not how a timney should feel. I think it was most likely something completely...
