    Gain twist

S&W uses gain twist in their 460 mag. pistol . Don't remember spacifics-seems like it started @ 1/100 not really sure where it ended. Seems like gain twist would be like a wood screw w/different rates of threading, it would be damaging to the wood being the softer material, ie. hard on the...

A few years back I tried to discuss gain twist w/engeneers @ FN in Cola. SC . They seemed kind of tight lipped ,didn't know how to take it. Paul

APA .300 Win mag in wood

Beautiful, work of art, etc. doesn't do it justice. I've always been a sucker for fine wood and bluing. If it shoots 1/2 as good as it looks you really have a winner. How about a contest for the best looking, shooting and possibly most radical and/or strange looking rifle? Paul

7mm Dies w/37 deg Shoulder on 300WM Parent Case

Just curious how much case volume are you gaining & how similar is this to an Ackley treatment? I'm in the process of building a very similar rifle. I've already talked w/Michelle @ PTG reguarding reamers, have the action, ordered a Boyd's heavy varmint stock, and am looking at a custom McGowen...

    7mmrem/300win.mag conversion (7mm practical)

My fault, should have told you I was building the first one on a Savage 116FSS to make it as easy as possible. If I don't mess with the 300 win shoulder angle I can use 300 go/no go gauges I have access to.Talked to PTG and the reamer is only $138. I'm going to ask for a rough drawing just to...

    7mmrem/300win.mag conversion (7mm practical)

Caliber would still be 7mm.The chamber would lengthened.Look in a load manual w/engeneering drawings.also when a bbl. is machined it's not in a reciever then.I'm capable of installing the finishedbbl, and I don't have to have to have a licensed dealer to ship or recieve the bbl. alone saving up...

    7mmrem/300win.mag conversion (7mm practical)

would I be Better off money, expense, and quality wise to send just the bbl. or the whole weapon. Note I would have to buy bbl nut wrench & go/no go gauges. The differances between the 2 seem mostly case length & neck diameter.suggestionson a smith and approx. cost each way. THANKS paul
