    Saiga 12 owners

Re: Saiga 12 owners Check out Hatcher Gun on the WWW. Todd does a kick butt mod on the saiga. Reverses the bolt for more convenient one handed wracking, moves trigger group for use of a truer pistol grip, and he is a ClassIII, dealer and Manufacturer licensed gunsmith, Cut her off to 11 bad...

    carbon barrels

Re: carbon barrels There is alot of negatives to a carbon wrap barrel. If not done correctly(ABS satern barrel insert) the barrel liner is actually insulated from the air cooling effect and can just be shot to death while the outer surface is still cool to the touch. The only major...

    Rem. M24 SWS

Re: Rem. M24 SWS The only way that I would shuck out the extra coin for the logo is if it wasn't a repro. It's worth more in unaltered form. I'd just build a rifle like I want it. That's my 2 cents anyway.

    DBM Help

Re: DBM Help AICS mags definitely! Great availability, though not cheap, but they are high quality for something that will be shot alot.

    Budget build ideas

Re: Budget build ideas If your budget is really tight look around and find a good used savage varmint rifle in 308. You can shoot it now and later on install a custom pre chambered and threaded barrel cheaply. Most of the savages already have pillar bedded actions and you will not get into...

Poll: Best match barrel for Savage

Re: Poll: Best match barrel for Savage That's a duped up survey, the criterion? No lilja? I wouldn't put any more trust in your results than a MSNBC political analysis!

    Stainless or cro-molly action?

Re: Stainless or cro-molly action? It really depends on the actual end use of the rifle. If you are building a hunting rifle for all weather, high country, alaska, etc., Stainless all the way. Though not totally rust resistant it sure beats CM and if cera-coated is nearly impervious to...

Gunsmithing How many lbs. of torque?

Re: How many lbs. of torque? I like 45in lbs on the front and 35 on the back. Then shoot it and see. It's interesting to see how this effects some rifles more than others. If you get some vertical try a little more on the tang screw.

    Gunsmithing Duracoat/or Hydro-Dip

Re: Duracoat/or Hydro-Dip I have not used it yet though I am having a rifle built and am going to try it on the stock only. My personal experience is pretty positive with heat cured cera-cote and not so great with dura coat. Pretty new I guess we will figure it out over time.

    Rifle Scopes Help choosing optics

Re: Help choosing optics I would not eliminate the nightforce. For a working scope they are hard to beat value wise, and yes everyone likes the SB but not everybody wants to shell out the coin for them. I personally like the Nightforce reticle options over the SB money difference be damned...
