    Suppressors Till hell freezes over?

That's pretty damn funny :D Ill have to go out and snap some pics of the truck. And, No, I don't miss that rifle. It wasn't bad, but it was the first rifle that I'd ever messed with that you could only get 2-3 shots out of before the accuracy went apeshit (barrel got hot FAST).

    Suppressors Till hell freezes over?

This actually made my day. Since that time, I have: Gotten divorced, sold her car, bought a mud truck, built an engine for said truck and knocked out a semester of college. Pretty damn funny. She left with ONE rifle, the 7mm08, and that's just fine with me. It was a savage anyway :)

    Suppressors Till hell freezes over?

Well, I called the BATF today and found out my Form 4 was filed/completed August 15th. Hooray (or so I thought) I should be getting my suppressor in a few months! Wrong. I was told it will be NINE (9) MONTHS from the day it was processed until I will receive the paperwork from them...

    Savage 110BA vs ArmaLite AR30A1?

I know this has probably been asked a thousand times, but I was curious if there are any advantages to buying the Savage over the ArmaLite? Personally, I've had shit luck with savage firearms in terms of accuracy (bought the woman a 7-08 that couldn't even hold 1 MOA. That's ridiculous. Yeah...

    First competition!

Yeah, I need to find a "F class" match to compete in is what everyone keeps telling me. I have no idea what it is, but I assume its service style rifles at longer distances with larger targets? Also, I agree completely that you can learn a lot from the other styles of rifle competition and I...

    First competition!

Yeah, it just seems like it takes the skill/fun out of it though... however, they do shoot AMAZING groups with those setups. Im just kidding about the "cheating" part. That's how that class is played, and I understand that. I just can't rationalize it because it would be impossible to take...

    First competition!

Went out today and shot my first competition! It was a benchrest competition, and man did I show up WAY out of my league. Targets were mini-clays at 250 yards. That sounds easy until you realize how big a mini clay is and then the "oh shit" moment happens. Showed up with my trusty AR-10...

    Bullet seating issues

Can I correlate the MV with the bullet exit times through the barrel to stay in the "node" or do I need to just do a completely new load test with bullets seated at the depth that I need them to fit in the magazine? I already know the MAX that I can shoot safely from loading powders in .5...

    Bullet seating issues

Its a .308 gas gun and the bullet length jammed doesn't come close to fitting in the magazine- its nice and hot here in Texas, and temps were ranging from 99 to 102. As for the charge, the book minimum is 39.0 and that's actually the best shooting one! Max book is 41.5, but I went to 42 (jammed...

    Bullet seating issues

I am currently working up a fresh load with a different powder than I normally use and did the usual ladder test, followed by another ladder test and finally, 3 loads in .1 increments (5 each) and had worse results. I narrowed it down to 39, 39.1 and 39.2 grains and all worked GREAT. Were...

    Movie Theater World War Z

Zombieland was the best! Woody did a great job in that one IMO. That, and Cowboy Way. What the hell happened to woody?

    Shillen Semi Barrels

Well, just looked on the website about the "Rainier Match" chamber. They state: "The Rainier Match Chamber is a modified .308 WIN-7.62 NATO chamber to produce ultimate reliability and accuracy shooting both the 7.62 NATO & .308 WIN rounds." Great. So I guess everyone uses the "NATO" chamber? If...

    Shillen Semi Barrels

What is the "Wylde" chamber? Also, I would be leaving my 20" barrel and moving out to a 24" setup. Ill be honest, I never carry that damn gun more than a mile and always shoot from a bench or the ground. I don't care what it weighs. I just need a match style chamber instead of the MIL spec...

    Shillen Semi Barrels

Does anyone know if Shillen makes a match chamber for a AR-10 style barrel? My idiot light came on for me when I found specs for a NATO style chamber and realized my problem... I have a great barrel with a not so great chamber. My brass comes out pretty large... I use a FL die and measure...

good sign that the semi-auto market is getting back to normal

My local shop is selling BR2 large rifle CCI primers for 67 a box. I asked him WHY and he told me honestly, that his cost was 32 a box pre-bullshit (selling for 48) and his cost now is 48 (selling for almost 70 after tax). Hope THAT comes back down. Hell... to be honest, I don't reload to save...

Deep Throat? (No, this isn't porn)

I have been using the rifle for short range middle of nowhere competitions and occasionally go out with my buddy to the 1,000 yard gun range in Austin. I wouldn't take a shot at anything other than paper with the rifle over 500 yards, and usually its just for coyote/varmint/hogs under 500 yards...

Deep Throat? (No, this isn't porn)

Here's a picture of the mold. The first 2 black lines is the shoulder, the 3rd is the end of the cartridge length (which is surprisingly deep, you could be running a case trimmed to 2.035 and still have a smidge of space at the end) and the red is where the rifling begins.

Deep Throat? (No, this isn't porn)

Also for those who are curious- you can make a port mold by sticking a ear plug about 1" in the barrel from the throat, spray a LIGHT coat of WD-40, carefully pour in the rubber port mold mix, wait... wait... then extract in about 24 hours. Great way to see whats going on in there. As for...

Deep Throat? (No, this isn't porn)

How deep is the rifling supposed to be on a AR style weapon? I have called Armalite repeatedly to get answers, but finally just got "flagged" and they will only say that the information is "Proprietary". Well shit. On my rifle, the standard .308 is of course 2.800 OAL, however this places...

Adjustable Gas Block & Heavy Buffer Spring

With an adjustable gas block, there's no reason to have a heavy buffer spring or weighted down buffer. You can adjust the cycling with the gas block- having these components will only require that you turn the screw out more to allow more gas to compress the added resistance.
