Rifle Scopes Nightforce NXS 2-5-10x42 out in the field feedback.

Excellent news! I was hoping to hear that kind of feed back from field users. Since it came out I've been heavily eye-balling it and after Lowlight gave it good marks I knew Nighforce had done a good thing with the 42mm version. Thanks for the review, that scope is safely at the top of my 'soon...

Rifle Scopes Hunting scope around 1k light set up.

A little over budget, but reports are excellent. Moa/moa, tuff, and light for its capabilities. Leupold 4-24x52 VX-6 34mm Riflescope

Rifle Scopes best $300 all around scope

Sportsman's Warehouse has the Burris mil/mil MTAC 4.5-14x42 on clearance from $550 down to $350.... No other 'budget' mil/mil variables would be on my radar while they are available at that price. As far as direct competitors to the Midway Weaver (which is Japanese made according to the...

Rifle Scopes Need Scope, Base, Rings Recommendation for Newbie with Remington 5r MilSpec X-mas Gift

Very cool Xmas gift, hi-five the wife! The industry standard for budget mil/mil is the good ole SWFA SS 10x. If you're one who tends toward higher magnification, the 12x would be great too. The 16x and 20x models are more for deticated target setups and will be noticably dimmer. I'm of the...

Rifle Scopes need to be sent in the right direction

I agree with the above, probably about 70/30 in favor of mils on this site. I think there are more mil-based reticle options out there and you definitely want the turrets to match. I overall prefer mils, but Moa is fine too.

    Mosin Nagant Build (collectors beware)

Nice job. Loves me some Mosins. I've been utterly impressed with Boyd's stocks, really nice for as low-cost as they are. Post up again with some good handloads!

    RIP Mikhail Kalashnikov

If Kalashnikov hadn't come up with an AK, someone else would have come up with something similar. In his defense, his life long dream was to design farm equipment. A damn world war can change one's direction fast, as it did millions of other men's. Regardless of who came up with what first, the...

Rifle Scopes Make a reccomendation please! BEST optic for lightweight hunting rifle.

I've been considering that one for a lightweight 300win. Any comments on how it stacks up against some of your other glass? Was curious how it may compare against your Kahles (not totally fair, I know) or something like a Swaro Z3, ect. I need to find a local joint that stocks the 42mm nxs and...

Rifle Scopes Budget scope that satisfy!

I'm highly satisfied with my Minox ZA 3-9x50 for caribou hunting. It was a steal at $219 and I have yet to look through another scope with equivalent glass (other than a Zeiss conquest) under $600. For a budget AR scope, I'm liking my Leupy Mk AR 3-9x40 mil/mil at $350. The Minox trounces it...

Rifle Scopes Leupold Mark 4 3.5-10x40???

The Mk4 3.5-10x is tried and true. It is aging though, and there have been lots of coating improvements in the last 10 years. If you can get a decent price out of it, it would probably be worth it to at least get matching turrets/reticle. FFP isn't necessary in that power range, IMO. If you guys...

Rifle Scopes Glass Talk - Feeling An Itch for HIGH END Glass

The Kahles, S&B, Premier, Steiner etc. will all be a noticeable, albeit expensive improvement in glass. There is the reality of diminishing returns, and scopes like Sightron SIII are a prime example of excellent performance without dropping over $2k. Buyers remorse is always relative; a lot of...

Rifle Scopes Bushnell elite 6500 vs vortex viper hs

The added benifit of field of view on the Bushnell at low power makes it more versatile for all hunting situations. I haven't looked at them back to back, but I'm betting the glass on the 6500 noticably edges out the Vortex. They are basically the same size and weight. Best customer service with...

Rifle Scopes Make a reccomendation please! BEST optic for lightweight hunting rifle.

I guess I was thinking along lines of muleys or Elk; Creed is a rocking whitetail round for sure. The Mk6 does sound like your best bet, excellent mag range, great warrantee, light weight and tuff. Glass is great by all accounts.

Rifle Scopes Make a reccomendation please! BEST optic for lightweight hunting rifle.

I'm guessing you're looking for more magnification, but for me, a 2.5-10x is a near perfect hunting mag range. The new Nightforce 2.5-10x42 is high on my radar for a long range big game scope (around 22 oz. if I remember right). Long range varmints would be a different story, I'd definitely want...

Rifle Scopes beginner scope help. help me choose bushnell, nightforce, swfa, or vortex

I've yet to check out the new Sightron stuff, as Rockbox said, they're still pretty new. I have high hopes for the stac line, if they have the same optical quality and components but with cheaper labor, I can live with that if the quality control is up to par.

Rifle Scopes beginner scope help. help me choose bushnell, nightforce, swfa, or vortex

You might throw the new Sightron SIII FFP 6-24x50 on your list. I haven't looked through the FFP version, but the SFP version had a little better glass than the PST. The PST has a few added features though. Any on your list are good to go, though out of all you listed, I think the SS 5-20x50...

    Rifle Scopes Best budget scope?

The Mk AR mod 1 series all have mil turrets (plain non-mod 1 are moa). They have plain duplex, mildot, and fire dot illuminated reticle options. I have the 3-9x40 and I have ended up really liking it. 18.2 mils of elevation in mine, pretty clear glass and nice smooth mag ring... Actually a good...

Rifle Scopes Help picking a scope for my build Need Opinions...

I think the strongest value in a $1300 scope is the SS 5-20x50. It easily competes with several more expensive scopes under $2k. The new Burris offerings coming out soon I hope can give them a run for the money.

    Rifle Scopes Sportsmans warehouse 4.5 x 14 MTACs $350

I noticed that last week at my local one in Alaska. That is a lot of scope for the money. I've had good luck with the Mtac line, light weight mil/mil with great warranty.

Rifle Scopes Looking for the right optic for my ~DMR AR-15

For a DMR scope, I really like the SWFA SS 3-15x42. The Weaver 3-15x50 and 4-20x50 are great too. The Bushnell 3-12x with G2 reticle mentioned above would be a nice setup. The Vortex PST 2.5-10x32 FFP is a nice size and mag range on an AR, IMO. If more mag is wanted, the 4-16x Vortex offerings...
