Oh no another AI vs Barrett vs DT thread

I looked at Timberwolves, and I Too would love one with an A5 stock. They are still active but only doing small runs. I had an M15 and it was just ok. I much prefer the impact action vs the Coyote. That and no switch barrel unfortunately this seems to be the theme here. the ergos of the MRAD...

Oh no another AI vs Barrett vs DT thread

It took three BD to respond to my initial email, then with a couple back and forths it finally was confirmed ordered 2 weeks later. From there it was about 8 months to actually receive the bolt.

Oh no another AI vs Barrett vs DT thread

Support is by which I can get customer service and availability of parts and components. My primary consideration is time. In my case DT has excellent support as there are multiple stocking dealers who all stock a variety or parts, conversions, barrels, bolts, mags, etc. Turn around on a mishap...

Oh no another AI vs Barrett vs DT thread

Is the support required? or is the Rifle reliable enough that this is much less of a factor? Gear lust a little bit. I want a factory purpose built rifle. I like my Impacts and yes there is a plethora of chassis options, but having a factory rifle thats designed together is something that is...

Oh no another AI vs Barrett vs DT thread

DT has been known to have some QC issues, however I;ve seen the same with Barrett and has personal experience with it with an AI. No company is immune if it's made with human hands. I have however seen plenty of DTs shoot bungholes at various distances. This is an excellent summary of my...

Oh no another AI vs Barrett vs DT thread

Alpine only ever sold direct to Canada. A dealer local to me sells them and stocks most everything. I think FN just licensed it from UA. My primary purpose for the rifle is to hunt/field use it. From shooting coyotes, to Elk to target shooting at home. I dont want just another bench set up. I...

Oh no another AI vs Barrett vs DT thread

So let me preface this with I live in Canada and our choices for rifles and availability is somewhat limited. AI and Barrett are repped by Wolverine Supplies up here. Good company, very traditional and getting a response from them takes at minimum a week. They don't carry much for stock on the...

    Caliber recommendations again

I'd go 6 or 6.5 x 47 Lapua or 6mm Creedmoor. The CM incase you dont have time to reload and want to buy factory ammo. The lapuas because they are just so darn easy to load for.

Number of Factory Loads when Breaking In New Rifle?

Break in is around 200 rnds, So id say at least that. My gun builder has told me to clean once at 40 rnds then clean again around 200 rnds, then carbon the barrel and do load development. He was right. I saw an additional 50 fps after 200 rnds

Bore update is this normal wear

yeah that’s pre first coffee posting right there haha that’s my mentality as well but of course now that I can see better the paranoia sets in That's normal. If you are not getting pressure or accuracy issues, I would leave it be and just shoot it. But if you are set on getting it bare metal...

Bore update is this normal wear

Finally got a better bore scope and my 6.5mm cm rig seems to have fire cracking after about 750 rounds. I did a treatment of wipe out twice, first for one hour. Second for 12 hours and here is what’s left. Any advice or products to remove the rest or am I not going to get it out photos are...

That Steyr SSG M1 is looking pretty sweet. Love that it has a dust cover

    Penetrating Oil For Barrel Cleaning

Wipeout the stuff is magical, spray and walk away. come back a couple hours later and your barrel looks brand new. I'm interested to see if the carbon ring removal will help with accuracy. 2300 rnds is a lot too though

    Gone

Fortunately you're not in Canada they would charge you for "unsafe storage" on top of losing your stuff. Sorry to hear about it! I hate freaking thieves

Which MC Rifle System, AI or Cadex

The Cadex has a magazine adapter that brings the mag further forward for proper feeding. I shot a lot of 6.5x47L out of mine and never had a problem feeding. I did have a problem with ejection with mine, cadex warrantied that and gave me a new bolt (process was they sent me a new one and I then...

Which MC Rifle System, AI or Cadex

I had a kraken, now I have an AI I also had a desert tech here are some thoughts Cadex: Great rifle, its essentially a mobile barrel vice system. Return to zero is awesome, method of changing barrels and equipment required is not. I sold mine because while I could change barrels, I hardly did...

    AI AT308 bolt face pitting

The seller lied, he said he bought it new, he actually bought it second hand, original owner shot 260 rem with it and a LFP. That caused the damage. I bought a new bolt and sold the gun. See above, Same here I since sold it and bought a new AX but yes definitely going to do so in the future...

    Cadex Defense feed troubles.

what type of projectiles are you using? are they seated long or short? Could definitely be a mag issue or could be a projectile issue too. MY cadex in 6.5x47L struggled with certain projectiles. I think its because their feed ramp is aggressive. I had a different action though
