How does primer seating depth affect velocity spread?

Just a theoretical question. I know we are all limited by equipment, tolerances, etc. But I wanted to know if there could be a big difference in velocity. I think you can just measure primer seating depth using the end of your calipers no?

How does primer seating depth affect velocity spread?

Sorry for another noob question but what effect does variances in primer seating depth make in shot to shot consistency? For example, if you have 5 rounds seating 0.001 inches in, 5 rounds 0.002 inches, etc. what could you expect velocity and SD wise? Of course assuming everything else is as...

    First time out!!

Dry practice a lot. Go to the range and shoot a shot, then dry fire a few times and see if you flinch. Then shoot again. Try to find someone who is experienced who is willing to show you the ropes. If not, attend a class. Everyone starts somewhere and I'm not much better than you but I...

    Issue with brass shoulders

Well Ben at Peterson took care of me and has new brass shipped my way. He took a look at the brass and said they are not cracks but scratches. Either way, very satisfied with the customer service from Petersons and Grafs.

Gunsmithing Can you shoot large rifle primer ammo with small firing pin?

Sorry for the dumb question, but yeah... Are there any issues with shooting say 6 creed LRP ammo with a small diameter firing pin bolt? Any issues with pierced primers, inconsistent ignition, or weird primer issues? Thanks!

    Issue with brass shoulders

Yeah guys at Grafs and Peterson took care of me. Gonna send them back for different batch. Kinda disappointing seeing a big issue like that. Makes me worried for other people using bad batches of brass that could possibly go boom. Especially Prime ammo.

    Issue with brass shoulders

From forming the shoulder and neck. It's not normal to see lines like that on the neck IMO. No other brass I've used has that.

    Issue with brass shoulders

Yes some brass has multiple lines and I can feel them with my nail.

    Issue with brass shoulders

Hey guys I was looking over some new Peterson brass I have and after loading 50 6mm creedmoor rounds I noticed that there are what appear to be stress fractures on the shoulder. I thought it might just be bad resizing technique but I looked at my other box with new untouched brass and many...

    Wood stock finish?

Wait, you mean boiled linseed oil is good right? Cause from my understanding, raw linseed oil is super slow to dry.

    Wood stock finish?

Thanks for the pics! I may go ahead and try the miniwax when I get my stock in.

    Wood stock finish?

Yeah, I use linseed oil on my axes but I think it may not be a good thing for a gun stock.

    Wood stock finish?

Will quoted about 6 months, but he's moving to a bigger place so that may be longer or shorter. But he makes one hell of a nice stock.

    Wood stock finish?

Thanks guys. I'm having a Cerus stock made and was wondering about a good wood finish on a gun stock. I may go ahead and do oil since I live in southern Cali and don't have to really worry about humidity.

    Wood stock finish?

So for a wood stock, what would you recommend? Clear coat, satin, oil? What would be a pretty stable finish? TIA

    As expected of KRG Bravo

Lightweight as configured. I prefer a heavy rifle cause I only go to the range. But if I was gonna lug one around, I would get the adjustable butt pad and that's it probably.

    As expected of KRG Bravo

I am super impressed with the quality and price. KRG had my stock and parts shipped out the next day and I gotta say, the quality of the Bravo is very good for the price. Very adjustable and solid with great accessories. Got the Bravo stock with a heavy spacer, spigot mount, and adjustable...

LRA Bipods: Why are they so hard to find?

I originally wanted the F-class bipod from LRA but couldn't find them anywhere so I went with Accutac. If LRA are still in business, maybe it's another place for me to sink money into... lol
