    Gunsmithing Any gunsmiths in michigan....

Re: Any gunsmiths in michigan.... You might try Bachelder's in Grand Rapids. They have done some work for me on Weatherbys and done well on those. I know that they are one of the few Weatherby service centers that installs the Weatherby Accubrake, so they would probably be able to help you...

Gunsmithing Barrel plug fell out during parkerizing

Re: Barrel plug fell out during parkerizing My Parkerizing kits indicate anywhere up to 20 minutes, but I've had great results show up in as few as 5 minutes. I usually leave the part in for at least 10, but that's just me.

    Gunsmithing Free Floating Test...

Re: Free Floating Test... I'd bed it if it hasn't been done already, and see if in that process you end up with contact or if it goes away. Sometimes I end up shimming up the barrel or action enough during the bedding process that the small amount of contact you describe "vanishes."

    Gunsmithing Question About Pillar Bedding

Re: Question About Pillar Bedding BigMike, I also purchased the spacers (haven't used them yet - that rifle is further down on the list) and think they are a neat product to have metal-to-metal contact. I wish that I could have used them with the Vanguard I just bedded. As I understand it...

Gunsmithing Remington Sendero trigger adjustment problem

Re: Remington Sendero trigger adjustment problem Nope. No idea. Had it repaired and had a trigger job done on it at the same time. Now it's a thing of beauty. Dad just left with it this AM to take to WY on an antelope hunt.

Gunsmithing Bedding an action with an integral lug.

Re: Bedding an action with an integral lug. With the Howa/Wby Vanguard I would not place tape on the bottom. The screw enters through the bottom, and you'll induce a bit of torque if you leave tape space underneath there and then try and tighten it down. Use release material on the bare back...

    Gunsmithing highest grade walnut stocks

Re: highest grade walnut stocks +1 on Luxus My business partner had a stock of one of his rifles copied from plain birch into a high grade wood he obtained from Luxus. Absolutely wonderful piece. He then had it locally finished as he wanted it done. The copy job is extremely reasonable with...

    Gunsmithing Torque screwdrivers

Re: Torque screwdrivers I like the Wheeler "FAT" screwdriver from Midway. Use one of the Midway codes for a discount and it's even a better deal. As "precision" as my tools for cars? No, but I'm not really up for spending a lot of money on a different one. I've compared/checked it to my...

Gunsmithing Remington 700 Trigger Installation Woes....

Re: Remington 700 Trigger Installation Woes.... I pulled mine out last evening. As the "stake marks" are on the right side, it does make pushing/pulling the pins through that side more difficult. I pushed mine out the left (drove them from the right side and out the left) and will insert...

Gunsmithing Remington Sendero trigger adjustment problem

Re: Remington Sendero trigger adjustment problem So I went to work on this again today, and after adjusting the 3 screws and analyzing the trigger many times, I decided to remove the safety to get a better look at the trigger. And, this is what I found: I replaced the safety, and of...

Gunsmithing Remington Sendero trigger adjustment problem

Re: Remington Sendero trigger adjustment problem It's an old style trigger. Since I can't find a schematic... which part is the connector? I can't find any exploded views of a Remington 700 trigger, so I didn't take it apart yet to look. None from Remington, of course, and amazingly there...
