This could get interesting. Bolt vs Semi .22 rifle

Re: This could get interesting. Bolt vs Semi .22 rifle I have a 10/22 with a Kidd barrel and a Sako Quad (bolt gun) with a Lilja barrel and I can't tell an accuracy difference between the two. Both guns will post MOA or better 10-shot groups at 100 yards on non-windy days with Wolf Match Extra.

Storing Guns for 2 Yrs Prep for Longterm storage

Re: Storing Guns for 2 Yrs Prep for Longterm storage I have stored old, blued, wood-stocked rifles and shotguns for a lot longer than 2 year in an indoor safe in Houston with no dessicant or dehumidifier. Just bores oiled and outsides wiped with a silicone cloth and I've never had a single...

    270 winchester

Re: 270 winchester .495 BC actually IS pretty bad compared to offerings in 6.5mm, 7mm, and 30 cal with BC over .6. I really like the SST for hunting, though. Great deer bullet.

Rifle Scopes Any skinny on March scopes

Re: Any skinny on March scopes The eye box is small (and depth of field narrow) above 15x, and especially above 20x, but the scope is also physically even smaller than (and lighter than) most of the FFP/tactical 3-12x or 3-15x scopes to begin with, so the extra power is like a bonus that you...

    Accuracy of the 10/22 Question

Re: Accuracy of the 10/22 Question My KID barreled 10/22 prints MOA 10-rd groups at 100 yards with Wolf Match Extra. It's on a Tactical Solutions X-Ring receiver, not a Ruger one, but I doubt the receiver makes a huge difference.

New Light APA (now w/ range report)

Re: New APA Light Hunting/Tactical/Silhouette Build Forgot to post these... on another forum someone asked for photos of the muzzle threading and thread protector, so I took some. Nice machining!

    chest rig advice

Re: chest rig advice Esstac also has kydex inserts to replace the bungie retention in their chest rigs and pouches. It's called a kywi. I've only played with them so far but they seem pretty good. You can so the swap yourself in seconds per insert and switch back at any time.

New Light APA (now w/ range report)

Re: New APA Light Hunting/Tactical/Silhouette Build Well, I got out to shoot yesterday. It was pretty windy (5-15mph from 7 o'clock) and 86 degrees F. I just got an Oehler 35P chrono and used it for the first time. Easy to set up, easy to use, nice piece of equipment. My groups shooting off...

New Light APA (now w/ range report)

Re: New APA Light Hunting/Tactical/Silhouette Build Thanks for the info, Mark! Ammo should get here tomorrow, but I probably won't be set up for reloading for at least a couple of weeks. I'll probably get out to shoot on Thursday or Friday.

New Light APA (now w/ range report)

Re: New APA Light Hunting/Tactical/Silhouette Build Ugh, a lot. A lot of the parts were ordered over the phone so I can't just look up amounts in email receipts like I usually do. Not counting the scope the parts probably total about $2500 with about $1200 of smith work. Missed this: <div...

New Light APA (now w/ range report)

Re: New APA Light Hunting/Tactical/Silhouette Build The rifle weighs in at 8.9 lbs. The stock is comfortable prone, but it needs a little more bipod height up front than a dedicated prone stock that doesn't have as much drop at the butt.

New Light APA (now w/ range report)

Lately I have gotten pretty into smallbore silhouette. I have some very accurate 22 rifles and some very accurate AR-15s, but until now, no precision bolt guns (an interesting assortment of factory hunting rifles, though). I decided to remedy this and have a rifle built that would be suitable...

38 and my wify wants me to reinlist

Re: 38 and my wify wants me to reinlist 50 lbs in 8 weeks is 6 pounds a week. A pound on the body is about 3500 calories. To lose 50 pounds in 8 weeks, every day you would need to burn ~3000 calories more than you take in. 3000 calories is a 20 mile jog.

    POF P-415 LOWER compatability

Re: POF P-415 LOWER compatability 308 and 308 length rounds fit in the AR-10 which is basically a longer, fatter AR-15. Nothing longer than a 223 will fit in an AR-15 but there are a lot of options. To name a few off the top of my head: .22 LR 9mm 5.7 10mm .40S&W .45 ACP .222 .223 6mm AR 6mm...

Rifle Scopes EFR Target Scopes for 22 tactical matches?

Re: EFR Target Scopes for 22 tactical matches? Since I may need to clarify my above post, every scope made by March Rifle Scopes will focus down to 10 yards, even the 8-80x56, and they are also all side-focus. Of course they are very expensive. Also I have a Bushnell Elite 6500 2.5-16x50...
