    There is absolute no information when you google 'registering gunpowder'. Seems to me that if you were required to register 18 lbs of gunpowder it would be a common occurrence.

    I guess the first thing would be to float the handguard and probably ditch the gas block for an adjustable one. If your interested in an 18" you could also do that when you change the handguards.

    I would definitely not get stingy over a few hundred dollars. If you gotta wait a bit longer to get it, than wait. It will be worth it in the long run.

    300 win mag is what I picked due to cost of shooting, popularity of components, and the ability to use it in most matches. I'd only go .338 for ELR stuff.

    t With 77gr Bergers, the 18" gets you -8.2 mils at 800, where as the 16" gets you -9.1 mils at 800 (using your numbers). Will be a nice rifle either way...
