    Savage edge

Re: Savage edge I bought two for my twin sons, both in .270, and both will shoot handloads under an inch for three rounds at 100 yards, and some groups were less than 3/4". One shoots bug holes with the right load. All of that was with the factory 7-8 pound triggers. I've since replaced the...

Range Report Past two weekends 155 scenars ( 308) & died on

Re: Past two weekends 155 scenars ( 308) & died on I suggest you start out with a small batch. My CZ 550 doesn't care for them much, but shoots 168 and 175 SMKs very well. My Savage, on the other hand, does well with the Scenars. My best groups so far are at about 2890 fps using 45.5 grains...

    55gr fmjbt with h335 ar.

Re: 55gr fmjbt with h335 ar. I've run H335 loads from 23.0 to 26.5 through a couple of M-forgeries with no functional problems whatsoever, so I don't think it is an ammo problem.

Favorite load for 55 grain 5.56mm round

Re: Favorite load for 55 grain 5.56mm round I don't load .223 for precision, but use H335 because it meters so easily and works fine in a couple of autoloaders.

Re: Nightforce F1 Flip up cap options... In response to your second question, Butler Creek has a list of sizes on their website.

Re: Sub sonic without can? Sorry - missed your title, so you can ignore my first 6 words (or all of them - up to you!)

    Suppressors Sub sonic without can?

Re: Sub sonic without can? If you are talking about unsuppressed, my guess is all you would lose is the supersonic "crack" - with rimfires it is difficult for me to tell the difference. 45 ACP is subsonic, and it isn't quiet. When shooting suppressed, there is a notable difference between...

Sidearms & Scatterguns 1911 vs. "Ninja" Glock

Re: 1911 vs. "Ninja" Glock Get what fits you and you can shoot well. I much prefer 1911s over Glocks - the 1911s point better for me and I like the trigger pull. If the SHTF 1911 parts are everywhere.

Here's a list of Rimfire BC

Re: Here's a list of Rimfire BC 0.09 for my 60-grain Super Snipers?!? Good thing that rabbit 20 feet from the door last night didn't know that!

Rifle Scopes Side focus on hunting rifle optic? Or go simple?

Re: Side focus on hunting rifle optic? Or go simple? I lean towards simple on hunting gear.

GunSIte Ruger M77 Scout in .308

Re: GunSIte Ruger M77 Scout in .308 I'm in the market for a Scout once my local dealer finds one (he is making a good trade-in offer on an M-forgery I will be glad to part with AND has a good price on the Scout) with the intention of putting a can on it from time to time. The flash hider is...

Rifle Scopes Tactical vs Regular hunting Scope?

Re: Tactical vs Regular hunting Scope? If you are VERY competent at ranges over, say, 300 yards, then there is a lot to be said for tactical scopes. Whatever you use, you obviously need to be very familiar with it. I have set up rifles for my sons and wife, and, to keep it simple, they are...

    Stock Pouch Suggestions???

Re: Stock Pouch Suggestions??? I like my BALS MK-2 http://www.skdtac.com/BALS_MK_2_Sniper_Bean_Bag_p/bal.602.htm The integral bean bag works very well, and the cheek piece gives me just enough lift on the comb, although you can add material under it if necessary.

    Random 2 items. which first?

Re: Random 2 items. which first? I've had apparently good luck with my Chrony. Hard to say when you have nothing to check against, but same loads give very similar data on different days, and within-group data seems reasonably consistent. That data plugged into a ballistics program also works...

2" Hitch Receiver Mount Shooting Bench

Re: 2" Hitch Receiver Mount Shooting Bench For what it's worth, I have a portable bench that works very well. It is "T" shaped, made with two thicknesses of 3/4" plywood glued and screwed together. I then cut 3/4" threaded steel pipe couplers at about a 10-degree angle and welded them to...

Would I benefit at all in a new trigger?

Re: Would I benefit at all in a new trigger? A good trigger is helpful and nice, so, as noted above, get a good one if you are going to. You can adapt to what you have in the meantime. I bought my twin sons Savage Axis rifles for Christmas to celebrate their first successful deer hunts, and...

    Rifle Scopes amateur night

Re: amateur night You are no doubt aware of this, but a quick way to check a level is to place it on a surface, note the reading, rotate it 180 degrees, and see if you get the same reading. Like anything else, levels aren't always true and don't always stay that way.

What Do You Want Your Online Retailer To Carry?

Re: What Do You Want Your Online Retailer To Carry? My thought would be to start with brass in the more common long-range calibers - 260, 308, 338, maybe a few others - along with SMKs and AMAXs and Scenars to match. I rarely order powder and primers because of the hazmat fee, but Varget is...

    Rifle Scopes Leupold MK4 Opinion

Re: Leupold MK4 Opinion I have a Mark IV and the optical quality, fit, finish, and adjustments are all, in my opinion, very good. However, as others have noted, Leupold seems to be a bit late to the game of addressing customer demands, like matching turrets to reticles and so forth. It has...
