    Re: 308 options? The rifle I will be building her is to get her to enjoy the sport, so I will get her something she likes. If she sticks with it I will get her a PGW Coyote like she really wants. Whether or not she likes it only for it's looks, as long as it keeps her interested!

    Wanting to build a bolt action 308 for the wife, she will be using it for mostly target and hunting. I want to keep this build under $2000 (not including scope) and am looking for suggestions on a good action to start with. Thanks for your input. Beale.

    Re: 338 lapua 300gr SMK too fast? The reason I thought this was getting in the danger zone is that any more powder than 92gr my velocity starts to drop. Is this a sign of over pressure? Should I back it off a few more grains?

    Was doing a load development today with 300gr SMK's and Retumbo and found at only 92gr of retumbo I was pushing 2860fps. Is this too fast? I have a 28" 1/10 twist barrel and the only pressure signs I can see are slight ejector rings on the brass. Thanks for your input. Beale.

    Re: 338 lapua bullet weight Depends on what you want to do with it. Hunting? Killing paper ect. For distance I shoot 300gr SMK's, my hunting round is 230gr lapua naturalis.
