Suggestion for someone just starting with reloading

On calipers. Reloading is an art of making ammo repeatable in every way. Weight, CBTO etc. Don't save money on calipers. In Europe you have 2 kinds o calipers- the popular mechanics calipers and the calipers that are certified to meet certain norms like ISO 13385-1. Buy the latter.

Suggestion for someone just starting with reloading

If you plan to reload for competition- ask yourself what does it mean. If you plan to win with the top guys at your club or county or state, you have to switch off a "money saving mode" in your brain. You need best equipment money can buy. That means buy once cry once philosophy is the only way...

    Recoil comparison

I had the same dilemma 10 years ago. Bought Tikka varmint in 308. The recoil was awful even with the muzzle brake. Sold it and built a custom rifle- 16lbs in 6.5CM with a muzzle brake. Recoil is not a problem any more.

    Rifle Cleaning

    1. There are different levels of carbon fouling. And there is a carbon ring... 2. The level of carbon fouling depends heavily on your shooting routine and pressure in the chamber (hot loads). If I shoot PRS or other stuff where time is a factor, my HV barrel gets really dirty. Especially after...

77gr SMK for roe deer hunting?

I never tried 223 on roe deer. This time I am going to try 77gr SMK and 75gr norma out of 20" AR barrel. Distance up to 150m. Usually I was running 140gr elite hunter with 43 gr VVN555 powder in 6.5CM. I plan to use N140 on the hotter side, but stil unsure whether 77gr bullet would do the job.

    Oryx Bag rider

this rider has little to do with benchrest. It's crucial for a benchrest stock to properly slide between the ears of a rear bag. Jamer's bag rider can be ok for PRS but it will not slide the benchrest way. Look at the benchrest stock: https://images.app.goo.gl/FpcoyeWifRdHW8iM7

    Savage bolt guns

what is a better option in this price range in the US? I don't own a savage, but here in Europe everything else is more expensive. pick up a tikka, a sauer, a steyr, a mauser.

    Wilson arms barrel borescope question.

You know what. If you don't like the barrel, I'll buy it from you. Borescope taught me one thing about myself- i.e. how poor I am at cleaning barrels.

Which primer for 6.5 creedmoor Lapua Brass (Small Rifle primer pocket)?

I use BR4 cause I prefer not to spend much time on thinking about primers causing SD variance.

Factory Hunting Bolt Action Rifles with what Factory Ammo

You bought the cheapest rifle on the market, put a cheap scope on it. You probably will be able to hit a deer at 100 yads. Good luck.

    Carbon ring removal

I had a terrible carbon in the throat area. I would recmmend soaking with C4 boretech after that bronze brush. After that 10 dry patches. After that boretech chamelein gel + 10dry patches. You are done.

    Cortina EC Tuner... They work!!!

There is some reliable data for rimfire rifles, but it's not the case for centerfire.

    How important is rifle's balance?

I think I watched all Erik's videos. As far as I recall Speedy's part was not about rifle balance, but cleaning and similar stuff. I live on the other side on the pond, I don't have a mentor. It makes my learning curve longer. frankly I don't see a reason Speedy would be willing to share his...

Vortex Viper PST Gen II 5-25 FFP or Similar

I owned 2 Vipers. The first one I sold because I was upgrading to a greater magnification. In the second one my turret broke off. I sold it as well. So, you get what you pay for. Accept that there is no scope that would fit your needs listed above. For hunting whitetail Viper would be ok...

1st 'big' PRS rifle: do I get the 6.5CM Howa in the Oryx chassis now (on sale) or wait for a 6 BR?

yes, it's very easy to turn 6CM into 6BR. Oryx is a great rigid platform capable of competing with other more expensive platforms.

NEW Tikka CTR groups and stiff bolt?

The action is tight by design. I had ctr in 308 and this did not disturb me much. Moreover, if you want to tighten your groups, get a brake. Ctr in 308 was no fun to shoot for me withouta brake.
