Duplicating MK 262 Mod 1 Ammo

2630 is pretty low for CFE-223. How much were you running, and what kind of pressure signs were you seeing? I run 24 grains of CFE in LC brass with CCI 41 primers and it pushes the 77 grain Nosler CC loaded at 2.25" (not crimped) to around 2820 FPS out of an 18" barrel.

    Receiver for RECCE upper

If you don't want your AR to multiply like gremlins, go the route that results in few, or zero spare parts laying around. Even something as simple as a leftover flash hider or takedown pin can result in the buildup of another complete rifle down the road. I'd probably opt to sell off the...

Question: was just told that I could not use a DPMS pattern 308 BCG in any DPMS 308 barrel

Find a new smith. Anyone that ignorant should not be trusted to work on rifles.

    Bipod mount

I run the Blackhawk bipods on a few of my rifles. As import clones go, IMHO they are probably the best ones out there. The pivot mount on the base is actually welded in place. As far as the base goes, it's actually sturdier than the original Harris unit. The worst part of the Blackhawk bipod...

Okay, I searched but is anyone running 190s in their gas guns?

I can't really say how temp stable CFE is. Being in San Diego, we don't get much in the way of extreme spreads of temperature out here. My initial workups were done when it was around 65-70F, and I've shot it out in AZ with the same loads at 95-100F without any excess pressure. Only a 35...

Okay, I searched but is anyone running 190s in their gas guns?

I run 190 Nosler Custom Comps and Sierra SMK's through my 16" 308 AR. I'm using a Rainier Select barrel with 1:11 twist. I think 1:11 is right at the lower limit of being able to stabilize the 190's. Groups at 100 yards are around 1.5 moa, but only open up to 2.5 moa at 300 yards, leading me...

    sabre defense

Website shows they are still out of business. Maybe someone found some of their old parts stashed away somewhere. They did make some very nice stuff back before they got shut down.

Suppressors Question about Ops Inc 12th collar/brake on my carbine and SPR

Thanks for the link VJJ, good info. I plan on doing a pinned/welded Ops brake on a 14.5 300 BLK in the near future. It's going to look like a sawed off MK 12 Mod 0. Good idea for that relief cut milled into the threads for the weld, chasing those fine threads would be kind of a pain in the ass.

    aac mussel brake

^^^^ This. Use a shim kit to ensure correct alignment with the bore of the rifle. Crush washers can cause slight misalignments which can lead to baffle strikes if you ever mount a can on it. If your barrel is 1/2-28 threads, each turn of the device will move it about .035", half a turn...

Suppressors Question about Ops Inc 12th collar/brake on my carbine and SPR

Spikes Tactical sells a one piece brake/collar mount that should work with the Ops 12th. It's a bit shorter than the 2" distance on the 12th, so you'd end up with less thread engagement holding the can in place. Also, being a single piece construction you'd lose some of the benefits of the Ops...

    Sling for 18" SPR

Thanks for the compliments guys. Here's another picture showing one of the DIY slings mounted on my SPR. I'm using a Noveske flush mount QD socket on the underside of the forend for the mid point mount. Forward QD mounts arer PRI designed specifically for the Gen III Delta forend. They also...

    308 dmr optics

Check out the Elite Tactical 3-12X44 FFP from Bushnell. It's a bit heavier than I'd like at 22 ounces, but otherwise it's perfect in a DMR type role. I have one on my 5.56 SPR, the G2DMR reticle allows for extremely fast transitions between targets at various ranges once you get used to using...

    308ar Barrel length question

I calculated mine using the drop I was getting at 650 and 1000 yards, pretty sure it's accurate to within about 50 FPS. My barrel is a Rainier Arms Select, which are made by Black Hole Weaponry. I would imagine that their 3 groove polygonal rifling probably contributes to that velocity. The...

Mk12Mod1; why 2 piece rings instead of a 1 piece mount?

Simple answer is because the ARMS rings were the only thing available at the time the Mod 1 went into service. They had been standard issue on the Mod 0 versions prior to that. At the time, I dont think any manufacturers were producing offset one piece mounts, or at least none that had...

Need a adjustable .936 gas block

PRI makes a pretty decent adjustable block: Precision Reflex - Product Detail - 936 Adjustable Gas Blk W/ Straight Gas Tube - $84.00 The straight gas tube design will also help it clear larger barrel profiles like the DPMS SASS.

    308ar Barrel length question

Wow, that's really slow even for FGMM. My 16" 308 AR is pushing the heavier 190 Nosler CC's at around 2500 FPS using CFE-223.

    308ar Barrel length question

Should be able to hit 2600 FPS out of an 18" barrel. Possibly a 16", but the loads will have to be pretty hot. If you can find some Hodgedon CFE-223, that will give a bit more velocity than most other popular powders for 308 like Varget or 4895.

    AR-15 Barrel Selection

I dont think anyone with common sense will argue against longer barrels being better for pushing bullets at a distance. Velocity is your friend in the game of long range shooting. Having said that however, I'm also of the opinion that big heavy bench rifles just plain suck. They do the job...

    Sling for 18" SPR

After sewing: Completed sling next to one of my older ones. Note the difference in overall length. The new one is shorter since i'm installing it on a carbine stocked rifle. Overall length of the 1.5" strap prior to sewing was about 43", but will be dependant on the rifle and end user...
