Range Report Can anyone explain what happened to this brass?

That's odd..... I've seen that from excessive lube when resizing, never from firing..... You said it also split the case at the belt? I'm just taking a few [barely edumicated] guesses here... Are you SURE the rifle is chambered for the brass and dies you're using? Is it a wildcat...

Info about an unregistered selective switch Full Auto MM31 Spanish Mauser

His best bet may be to dry fire check it, if it IS full auto, then disassemble it, call a lawyer and then the BATFE, if its not in the registry, then you've gotta torch cut the receiver in 3 pieces and destroy the middle section. Sell the remaining parts to an SOT. If it IS in the registry, the...

First, OCW test. Multiple Nodes, or am I just that rusty?

Thanks guys, I'm also thinking 45gr might be the best. I might load up 50-100 of each, and then try them both over the next couple of months. I'm trying to make it out to a 500yd range in August, to work my way out from 200yds, build some ballistic tables and get more trigger time. The part...

First, OCW test. Multiple Nodes, or am I just that rusty?

Ok, now I'm even more confused... T1=44 T2=44.2 T3=44.4 T4=44.6 T5=44.8 T6=45 I loaded up 5 rounds in case of fliers. 3 rounds, round robin style, Target #5, flier at 4o'clock I called as a miss. And the final 2 rounds, round robin style, 6,5,4,3,2,1 6,5,4,3,2,1 instead of 1-6

    Rifle Scopes Swfa

A fixed with MIL/MIL, Mildot Master (slide rule), and build a good set of tables. No complex formulas involved AFAIK.

Rifle Scopes SWFA Scope picture thread!!

SS10x42 I'm flip-flopping on whether or not to pull the iron sights and get some lower rings.

    Slidefire stock

They're fun... Slightly slower rate of fire than a 16 though. I've found its actually easier to control a mag dump with a slide fire than it is with a 16, and I've been shooting the 16 since 1994. As far as accuracy goes....... Its designed for throwing massive amounts of lead down range.

Rifle Scopes This might be an ULTRA stupid noob question about rifle scopes

From the photos it looks like either a buggered thread, or some kind of sealant on the locking ring. I've attached a photo, the red arrows are the slots for a spanner to install the locking rings, the blue is the "step" or "face" of the locking rings.

Rifle Scopes This might be an ULTRA stupid noob question about rifle scopes

Its hard for me to tell from the photos, but it looks like it may just be the edge of a locking ring, or it could be a buggered thread. Is there a step? Is the finish damaged? Can you clean it with a lens brush and take a photo a little more on-axis? What brand/model scope is it?

Gunsmithing Cerakote Armor Black vs. Graphite Black

I know its a little late in the game, but here's my Mossberg I did Graphite Black/Sniper Grey 17.5:1 (70cc/4cc, I like round numbers).

Gunsmithing Cerakote - remove barrel or not

You may want to hang it muzzle up. I just Cerakoted my 70's era Mossberg 500 and despite soaking in DA/prebaking 3 times, I still had oil seepage between the barrel and locking lug (I always thought they were 1 piece, now I see they're threaded together). I hung it muzzle up so any remaining oil...

When the defendant does not testify

I'd bet the State was bluffing with the charges, hoping he'd plead down. When he didn't, they were stuck trying to convince a jury. The whole thing was completely political, and it backfired badly. I find it really sad that the Media and Politics have such a pull on the Legal system lately...

China shows off world largest 3D printed titanium fighter component

They would still likely need to be repaired (welded). ;-) The piece in the original article was either machined from billet, or "printed" and finish machined. I've spent several years working with manual machining, CNC Machining, and Stereolithography (3D printing), and I've NEVER seen an SLA...

I was shooting my gun and noticed flattened primers, but decided to shoot another and.....

If this is what you're talking about: Hornady OAL Gauge - YouTube I'd put it up on ebay. As a Precision Machinist I was taught to remove as many variables, and use the actual parts in use for measurements when possible. Stacked tolerances are a killer. K.I.S.S. By using a deprimed...

I was shooting my gun and noticed flattened primers, but decided to shoot another and.....

Is your scale on a level and stable surface? Have you verified it with checking weights? I would also check the case length, along with smoking the neck of a case with a bullet only, NO PRIMER/NO POWDER and cycling it carefully through the action. "measured it with the hornady thread on...

Hi from SE Florida, intro with a question.

I've been lurking and soaking up info for the last few months, and I thought it would be a good time to get my post count started. I started plinking with a .22 back in 1986, worked my way up through various rifles and pistols and into NFA ~1995. With the recent spike in ammo prices, I've...
