Gunsmithing My new lathe and jigs

Re: My new lathe and jigs Well, first I logically detached the SAN storage from our original EMR deployment and proceeded to rebuild the server with Windows 2008 R2 Datacenter so it could be part of a new virtual server cloud. Argued with the "tech engineer" on another system that they...

Gunsmithing My new lathe and jigs

Re: My new lathe and jigs Thanks. I know what you mean already. I've outgrown my safe and moved to a backup one for barrels/stocks/ etc. That one is now full. Finally upgraded to a NF and not looking back. I'm now working on the "and then . . . " I'll post back here when I get some more...

Gunsmithing My new lathe and jigs

I've been busy with work work lately and have been neglecting my shooting side for a while. Here's an update: Got a new lathe, all my very own! Enco Turn Pro 14x40. Had some problems with the stands but I think I have them worked out for now. They should hold until I get around to building...

Gunsmithing How many honestly wear safety glasses

Re: How many honestly wear safety glasses I'll be honest, I don't always where them although I know I should. About 10 years ago I got hit in the eye with a peach pit while weed wacking. About 3-4 hours later I was in serious pain. Went to the ER, they dug around and put a patch on it...

    Gunsmithing Blast from the past.

Re: Blast from the past. Looks like another fine rifle from LongRifles, Inc. I believe that was the point. On the second topic brought up, I have used polane and like it fine for stocks. Its thick won't suck into pores (HS stocks for example).

Gunsmithing Homemade CNC mill making first 1911 grips

Re: Homemade CNC mill making first 1911 grips Stepper motors, wires, sensors, timing belts, pullies, brackets, computer, controller, power supply, fans, more wires. It wasn't too bad actually. The hardest physical part was making the motor brackets and getting them mounted to the mill. I...

Gunsmithing Homemade CNC mill making first 1911 grips

I figured I would share a little of what I've been working on this summer in my spare time. Found a Harbor Freight mill, model 40939, fairly cheap locally with tools and a few extras. It worked for a day before I started converting it to CNC. Have most of the bugs worked out and have backlash...

My worst day yet of reloading, feel free to share

Re: My worst day yet of reloading, feel free to share I have had problems with One Shot but its usually when I get too much on the brass or don't let it dry first. Lately I've been spraying the brass while in a loading block from all four sides. Then allow the one shot to dry. Actually...

    Gunsmithing 7mm-08 "heart transplant"

Re: 7mm-08 "heart transplant" Chad, I have a couple of questions for you if you don't mind. I've been using a dremel and too many hours doing the clean up by hand and now that I've nearly completed my mill-to-cnc conversion, I'm looking for some guidance on the stock setup. What's the...

    Gunsmithing WHERE IS. . .

Re: WHERE IS. . . Just as an update, its still working perfectly! Even after I left it running over night. I internally had to stop telling my wife that she left the kitchen oven on for about a month as my own self-punishment. I've since resumed commenting when she leaves it on. I...

Gunsmithing Equipment Changes at LA Precision Rifles, LLC

Re: Equipment Changes at LA Precision Rifles, LLC How well do the normal air hose swivel joints work for you guys vs the high-end joint like a Duff Norton Rotary Coupler? Any leaks or blow ups? I'm putting together a system myself and am currently stuck at the swivel joint to barrel...
