This sucker Remington AAC-SD just won't shoot...

I have never met a .308 that I couldn't get to shoot well. Using powders like 748 (which people tend to turn their head at here for some reason) and IMR-4895. If FGGM doesn't shoot well in the thing is either the rifle or you. If your loads don't shoot well its either you or you need to try...

    Mosin xlr sytle stocks?

Look up the pro-mag unit that is to be released the middle of this month. Its getting decent reviews it seems, the guys over at AKfiles are all over this thing.

I may have a shooter on my hands

What book are you using? Lyman's 49th (while more conservative in the last few years) lists IMR-4895/168's- max @42.5 gr, I would be surprised if you weren't getting a little crunch approaching those 45gr loads. 155 J4's start to crunch at 46gr, just for reference... But then again anything...

I may have a shooter on my hands

Great groups! I am still amazed how well a pretty much un-touched 700 will shoot with simple hand loads. These are the times I love shooting with a chrono, the accuracy is obviously there but its always nice to see what kind of FPS you are getting. If you are just shooting to 600, try a ladder...

Varget and Win Primers in stock near Nashville TN

Saw Varget at Cabela's the other day, at $27/lb, I passed... They also had CCI mini mag and 9mm.

168gr SMK vs 175gr SMK at 100 yards

I can get Hornady 150 FMJBT's to group better then FGMM (@ 100 yards) just by simply sorting brass and bullet weights. This is out of 2 different .308's, doing all of this with Lee dies and W748 of all things. FGMM IMO is slightly over rated, especially if you hand load. I have also not been...

    Wolf Primers?

No matter what reloading forum you go to there is at least 1 thread a month on Wolf primers. They work, some didn't at one point but that mess is over. Sometimes guns with lightened springs don't like them. If you can find them right now, buy them... end of thread For gods sake do a...

700 AAC SD and "heavy" bullets question

Ive loaded hornady 195 BTHP's under a few different powders, accuracy was never fantastic but I didn't develop the load very much as the weather changed between tests. This was a bone Stock SPS tac at the time, I'll post some more results tomorrow when I wake up.

    9mm 147gr subsonic load?

231 isn't going to give you 1000 FPS all that easily, especially if you are attempting to stay inside current published data. I was struggling to get 975 FPS from a 147 LRN using 231/hp-38, around that FPS with the softer bullet I was using I started to show some leading as well. Settled on...

    TulAmmo small pistol primers

Watch them in guns with lightened springs, every now and again one will need a double strike... I shoot them exclusively in all my pistols, around 10-15K a year

    Cheaper walnut media?

Corn cob shins/polishes brass the best, walnut media will give almost the same results with some polishing media but will really clean the crud out (even without the polishing compound) And yes some suggest Lizard litter, its a decent product that will give about the same results as the stuff...

    when do you stop fishing?

I like to shoot and I like to test new loads. Some times I do both, sometimes I develop loads when I get a good deal on bullets. Pistol ammo is an easy process which usually doesn't require a whole lot of testing. Rifle is a different story, I have different loads for different guns in the...

what powder should i switch to for .308

I really like W748, there is not a lot of love for it on the Hide though. Varget has too much lot to lot variation and people hate on 748 for temp sensitivity. Varget runs at considerably higher pressures then just about every other powder available for .308. For match loads, I have yet to see...

Shot my first .308 loads today

Extractor marks do usually indicate higher pressures but that depends on the brass vs the pressure. Does the bolt lift easy? Is there any problems with extraction...sticky bolt or bits of brass shavings? How many reloads before the pockets get loose? (not going to apply toy your loads yet...

308 168 gr SMK. Need some load data

How far are you shooting? For my SPS tactical I have found a ton of luck with starting loads out to about 300 yards. I shoot 168 SMK's under starting loads of IMR-4895 and will do .5 MOA at 100 yards if I am doing my part, .3 MOA if I get lucky. I never understand why people who shoot inside...

Is it worth upgrading yet- and in what way?

That's flatly a different preference as to fact, I neck size all my .308 brass until it needs to be annealed. I'll full length re-size only to bump the shoulders back. Now many hunters will tell you not to bring neck sized brass out for the reason you have stated. In all my years of shooting...

Lots of blemished bullets and brass in-stock

I have seen some people claim that their group sizes suffer when using blems. For the most part I'll buy and shoot blems just to blast or plink with. Its nice reloading 1K of .308 using blems at around $330
