    Rainier Arms Ultramatch Barrels

Re: Rainier Arms Ultramatch Barrels I have one with the 223 Wylde chamber that I just shot a 1/4" group with. I haven't shot it enough to say how it shoots on average, but that really made my day! I was shooting reloads with 50 gr V-Max.

"Skim bedding" stocks with aluminum bedding blocks

Re: "Skim bedding" stocks with aluminum bedding blocks I can understand someone saying it is unnecessary, because like has been said, a gun will usually shoot just fine without bedding. What I can't understand is someone arguing AGAINST it. At the very least it does no harm and can very...

700 sps tactical / sps varmint stock questions

Re: 700 sps tactical / sps varmint stock questions Yes you could swap stocks, no issues there, but no, it is not a better stock. At least if it is the factory stock. They both have lots of flex in the forend which allow for barrel contact. Both rifles you mention are best served with a good...

    Stainless Barell

Re: Stainless Barell I for one don't mind the look of a stainless barrel on a blurred action. If you decide you don't like it you can always paint it. Sorry, I have no experience with those barrels.

    Remington 700 Action

Re: Remington 700 Action Try Wal-Mart. Get the cheapest one you can find and strip it down. For what I have seen the actions go for you will not be into it for much more and you can sell the barrel and stock.

    questions about my new CZ

Re: questions about my new CZ Thanks for all the help. The Rimfire Central tip was great. I think I am going to be very happy with this gun. I will probably get a YoDave kit since I won't get a chance to shoot it til after Christmas, my wife wrapped it up and put it under the tree!!

    questions about my new CZ

I just picked up a VS 452 thumbhole. I was lookiing for a Savage, but saw this on sale for $400 ($80 off original price) and figured I would give it a shot as I keep reading how good they are on here. I just have a few questions. Was this a good deal? I only paid $200 cash after trading a...

    AR 15 brass ejection marks

Re: AR 15 brass ejection marks It is caused by the brass hitting the deflector behind the ejection port. You can put some self adhesive velcro(soft side) on the reflector to cushion it. And no, it won't cause any harm to shoot the brass.

    Savage 10 scope rings suggestions

Re: Savage 10 scope rings suggestions I have a bushnell 4200 6-24x50 in Burris xtr low rings sitting on a Weaver 20moa base with plenty of clearance. They seem to hold just fine even sitting on a 300WM and I like the 6 screws instead of four.

Hunting & Fishing got a late start, but a good one!

I Let out one howl right at sunset and this guy poked his head out of the brush @~250. I didn't wait to see if he was going to get closer. Gun is a Weatherby Vanguard 22-250 shooting 50gr V-Max.

Changing horses in the middle of the stream....

Re: Changing horses in the middle of the stream.... As long as you are not humping up a mountain, a pound or two will hardly be noticed. I would stick with your original plan and get a good carrying sling.

    308 truck gun

Re: 308 truck gun If it was me I would go with a medium heavy barrel at 18". A detachable mag would be a plus on a truck gun, too.

    3-shot group

Re: 3-shot group That's great shooting! I know a couple of guys that have Kimbers and they have nothing but good things to say about them.

Almost finished, need ideas on color

Re: Almost finished, need ideas on color In Oklahoma I would suggest a tan or brown. Pick a color that matches your AO. You could paint it with krylon to see what you like best before you break out the duracoat. It strips off real fast with brake cleaner so it's not a big deal.

Early Xmas to me, still don't belive it.

Re: Early Xmas to me, still don't belive it. You could sell just the rifle for what you paid for the whole setup and get a right handed version for not a heck of a lot more. Might be easier than shooting a wrong handed rifle. I was pretty lucky myself this weekend, I won a Savage Axis in 270...

    Aftermarket stock for Marlin XL7??

Re: Aftermarket stock for Marlin XL7?? If you want to upgrade you might be better off trading your Marlin for a Savage. Just handling them in the store they feel similar and the Savage has all the aftermarket support you could ask for.

Which of these is a better buy?

Re: Which of these is a better buy? I'm going to assume the varmint is chambered in 308 also. The advantage of the AAC is the faster twist(1:10 compared to 1:12) which will let you shoot heavier bullets. If you plan to push it to the limits of the round then I would go with the AAC. If you...

im at a impasse here 6.5 CM or 338 ***its ordered

Re: im at a impasse here. 6.5 CM or 338LM I would never start with a 338, there is a reason most of us start with a 22. The more you can shoot the better you will be, as long as you are focusing on your fundamentals. And of course the whole cost of ammo issue is a big factor too.
