    Gunsmithing Ring gauges

Why bother, they are damn expensive and will wear out eventually. Just buy a good thread micrometer instead.

Gunsmithing Applying proper Torque with a Strap Wrench

Take a strip of emery cloth long enough to go around the nut twice. Fold it in half backwards, abrasive side out. Wrap that around the nut and then apply your strap wrench and snug the nut down. 40 ft/lbs is your starting torque and then just enough additional torque to line up for the gas tube...

Gunsmithing Grizzly Gunsmith D1-5 Back Plate

Yup! I just took a D1-4 adapter plate, turned down the OD to match the spindle diameter and drilled/tapped it every 90 degrees. I got the backplate from Blue Ball machine for $25.00 used. One of the holes interfered with the cam pin, just trimmed the pin a smidge and it works fine. The really...

    Gunsmithing Finally!!

You guys get nervous about that? Wait until you sink a counter bore for a sling swivel in a $30K Chapuis double rifle. That'll give you some pucker.

Gunsmithing chambering with a collet chuck?

While your collet may have near zero runout the barrel may very well not. What the OD is doing is irrelevant. Use the 4 jaw gimble ring setup described above.

Gunsmithing Level action to stock in glass bedding?

I always made sure my barrel was where I wanted it then adjust accordingly on the receiver end if need be. Never had one so far off of level it would be an issue.

    Gunsmithing A Real Gunsmith Question

Jeff Beck, Robin Trower, SRV. But if I am doing something that really requires concentration I usually turn the tune off. I want to hear what my machine is doing.
