    Good Caliber's in Factory Ammo?

    ,223 with heavy bullets.

    Is this normal? ELDMs

As have I until recently. What annoys me is any company that claims there is no problem when hundreds of their customers know this not to be true. Dumb.

    Is this normal? ELDMs

True, but the thread topic is ELDM's. And if you and I know this, why doesn't Hornady. Dumb

Gun or ammo issue or normal ballistics

Makes good sense to me. The point of impact difference between a hundred-yard zero and a 200-yard zero with a .308 hunting bullet is something like four to six inches. You are dead on with your 200 yard zero at 200, two inches high at 100, and maybe eight inches low at 300. More or less a...

Federal Fusion, maybe. That's my vague memory of the order.

    Help Identifying Bullet

I purchased 6.5 140 gr soft point bullets from Rocky Mountain Reloading earlier this year and forgot what they are. They are a soft point but look more like a hollow point that's been filled with lead. There is no visible lead looking from the side. Has anyone else purchased these and done a...

    Any issues?

Depends on your intended use. The heavy Palma is a bit of a truck axel but might be fine from a bench. You are losing a bit of velocity over a 26-inch barrel, but are gaining overall handiness. I don't see a 22-inch heavy Palma barrel being in any kind of a sweet spot. Go lighter for a...

    NF 3.5-15x50 or 5.5-22x50

Good advice for PRS no doubt but you really need to see either of those reticles on 7x power. I find them useless for hunting. The other consideration is the last number in the series. 56 offers better low light visibility than any lower number but adds weight. See the second response to...

    NF 3.5-15x50 or 5.5-22x50

I would stay with that, but that's just me. Since a 6.5 CM can reach out to one mile, I would go to higher magnification for target shooting, but again that's a personal preference. With a .308, I would stay with what you have. Hope that helps.

    Alliant Powder Availability

I was searching for information on Alliant powder supply and most posts are from 2020 even on here. Has everyone given up? Aside from Reloder 16 very recently and a few pistol powders, nothing! I understand these powders are made in Australia. Any reason for hope? May have to find a...

    NF 3.5-15x50 or 5.5-22x50

First focal plane versus the second is certainly a consideration, particularly for hunting. I prefer second for hunting, particularly with a busy reticle. I am definitely in the more is better camp, but for hunting, the field of view is the deal breaker which means lower magnification. The...

    Impact Action Hitch on Opening

Agreed. Not many good gunsmiths here in this part of Wyoming, but there is one nearby in Idaho. I now have enough information to discuss this with him. Thank you.

    Impact Action Hitch on Opening

See comment below. The hitch was there on the first firing using light loads waiting for the barrel to speed up but nothing like on the second firing which was with loads meant for business. Hot loads definitely make matter worse which is why I believe clickers is the answer. The slight...

    Impact Action Hitch on Opening

Good question. To be clear, the hitch without a fired case in the chamber is discernable but very minor and probably is something you would not notice running the bolt fast. The hitch after firing is not something you would miss.

    Impact Action Hitch on Opening

That makes perfect sense. By hone "it," I assume you are referring to the chamber. Measure twice. Cut once. Bolt lift except for the final maybe half inch is perfectly normal.

    Impact Action Hitch on Opening

Yes, it does. On several different actions. I assumed this was cock on open which is why I thought the trigger hanger might be the source of the problem, if it can be called a problem. I am running the stock trigger hanger that ships with Impact actions. I understand others are available...

    Impact Action Hitch on Opening

I suspect that may be the problem. That would explain why hotter loads make things slightly worse. Brass is on the second firing. Chambering and extraction are just fine. The problem is the hitch at the top. I would expect a tight chamber at the back would interfer with extraction and why...

    Impact Action Hitch on Opening

I love my Impact actions. This is not a complaint. Impact short action shooting 7 Saum. There is a decided hitch at the top on opening. It is more pronounced with hotter loads. No other pressure signs. Is this cock on opening normal or would a different trigger hanger make this less...

Let me guess: They tell you there was nothing wrong and send you a replacement box.
