Best offset mount and red dot combo for AR?

The smaller one. I believe it's 2 MOA.

    Geissele SD optic choice-??

For 100-300? I'd be running an ACOG stack. TA31 or TA11. You don't need to spend a whole lot of money for what you want. Definitely don't need first focal plane. Trijicon Credo SPF, Steiner P4xi, Vortex PST.

Vortex 2-10 PST vs 1-10 Razor

If I was trying to choose between the 2-10 PST and the 1-10 Razor, it would come down to two questions. Do I NEED the 1x? Is weight a factor? If weight isn't a factor and you don't need the 1x, go with the PST. Shoot, for that matter, if you want a 10x, look at the Leupold 2.5-10 Mark 4HD. More...

Best offset mount and red dot combo for AR?

Assuming that you've already made up your mind to go with an offset rather than a piggyback, I'd suggest going with an Arisaka. What's nice about the Arisaka is that the mounts are designed to be in line with the axis of the bore and they offer the option to go either 30 or 45 degree with the...

    Not what l expected

I completely forgot to mention this above. As I said, my criterion barrels don't typically like Hornady bullets, but I've had good luck with the AAC 55gr Saber Blades. They often go on sale for .40 to .45 a round and I've been using them for my out to 400 shooting.

    Not what l expected

Well, the 53gr V-Max is a good bullet and all of my rigs shoot them well. As for the heavier stuff, it seems that you aren't having much luck with Hornady. My criterion barrels dont seem to like Hornady much either. I'd try something along the lines of 69 or 77gr sierras.

    18" barrel - 13" or 16" handguard replacement?

Which handguard are you considering? If you're going with something lighter, I'd keep it shorter. Lightweight handguards, like the Aero/BA models with the turnbuckel, flex a LOT. The longer it is, the less rigid it will be and the more it will flex. The more rigid the handguard, the farther out...

    Suppressors Mount or direct thread?

I hear ya. My initial impulse was to just go direct thread, but I tend to be a bit OCD and sometimes I get a thought in my head that I will fixate on. Since suppressors are new to me, they are what I'm fixating on. I scoured the internet looking for info on the topic of increasing the internal...

    Suppressors Rimfire suppressor

Thanks for all of the info. I decided on the Griffin Optimus Micro. I figured I'd spend a little more and get a good bit more flexibility out of it.

    adjustable gas block

Actually, what I said was an extension of what you said. You made reference to the builder only being able to gas the rig to be able to shoot either suppressed or unsuppressed. The point that I was making was that it is a bit more involved or complicated than that. I guess maybe that just went...

    Suppressors My Suppressor lost .6oz...

I've gotta figure a way to suspend my suppressors in the ultrasonic cleaner. The finishes on my suppressors are not taking their time in the ultrasonic well.

    adjustable gas block

That's the rub. When setting up a rig for competition, you'll often setup the rifle to run as long as it needs to before cleaning, on as little reciprocating mass as possible so that you can run as little gas as possible and get less recoil. The downside to setting up a rifle like that is a...

    adjustable gas block

Maybe you should give the guy at riflespeed a call. He might have something for you. Seriously, the riflespeed gas blocks have been those very rare products that actually do what they say they will do. I've been shooting high back pressure cans and run my rigs filthy, so I make adjustments on...

    adjustable gas block

I'm not super familiar with the AR10 world. I just have a good bit of experience with the AR platform in general and adjustable gas blocks. It seems that everyone wants one and I've seen more than one occasion where an AGB was used and it caused a perfectly good rig to not run so well due to all...

    Zero distance applicability

Fair enough. I can say that I can shoot farther with a good set of irons than I can with a red dot. Red dots are just infinitely imprecise. I have a buddy that can hit a 4 foot diameter steel plate at 800 with some WWII era bolt action he has. 7.62x54r I believe it is. No, that isn't precision...

    adjustable gas block

Well, with a gas block journal of that size, your options are going to be limited. Of those mentioned, just pick one. I can say that the superlative arms block, when run in bleed off mode is more geared toward fine tuning than "fixing" an over gassed situation. When running an SA block, I often...

    Zero distance applicability

Are you asking how far you can confidently shoot with a red dot or irons? It depends on the red dot or irons being used. When I'm shooting a red dot or irons at distances, I can usually hit it, assuming that I can see it. What I mean by seeing it is being able to resolve or distinguish the...

    Suppressors My Suppressor lost .6oz...

Yeah, after reading about all of the home brews on the internet, I broke down and got a gallon of breakthrough. I now use it for whatever I need to get carbon off of. Bolts, carriers, .... that problem carbon ring in the barrel. The stuff works well. You just have to be patient with it and give...

    Suppressors Mount or direct thread?

Hey all. I just wanted to revisit this topic as I'm getting ready to start doing some experimenting. I now have my 3rd can in limbo. I've gone back through this thread and after learning (I think) a few things, I believe my original question should have been regarding the effects of...

Longer range ar15 sight in distance

I like the 200 yard zero on my 16" rig. It's pretty much on out to 200 and dialing is minimal out to about 400. At 100, its only a .4 mil hold under and my scope has hold under marks in the reticle.
