I tried the Breakthrough Suppressor cleaner kit on my Nomad-30. I'm pretty damn impressed. Soaked it for 24hrs and it got pretty clean, soaked it for another 20hrs and it got even cleaner. Required minimal cleaning with a brass brush. Weighed 17 grams less after cleaning.

Didn't weigh my Sandman S or Sandman Ti before I did the same with Breakthrough a couple months ago. My Nomad Ti didn't gain all that much from when I got it. Mostly use that one on hunting rifles so I didn't bother cleaning it. But Breakthrough works quite well. I soaked the Sandman Ti twice, first time for 48 hours. After looking in the can with a borescope I soaked it a second time for two weeks. Would shake it around every day to agitate the fluid in the can. Literal chunks would come out when rinsing. I'll clean them again during the winter time when I am not shooting.

I also want to give Boretech a try, but mostly to get the pressure washer wand that is designed for cleaning cans. Flushing the can clean at the sink is not that great. Actually it sucks.

Did you just let it sit? I bought a bottle of that stuff. Got carbon chunks falling out of my main can.
I used this kit.

Just let it sit in the solution for 24hrs, used a brush and hot water and it got 90% of the way. Let it sit in the solution for another 20hrs, used a brush and hot water, blew it out with air and called it good.

My HUXWRX Flow 762 gained 1.4 oz fairly quickly after shooting some dirty 5.56 rounds. Now I'm struggling to get it back down to the original weight of 10.51 oz. I should have cleaned it when it had gained 0.5 oz.

So far two cleanings using HUXWRX recommended method, Suppressor Sauce, has dropped the weight back down to 11.32 oz. Just soaking the Flow 762 in their cleaning solution does not work though. With soaking a flushing, very little debris was removed. In fact when flushing after the first cleaning, very little water was coming out the vents.

A ultrasonic cleaner is needed. After soaking in Suppressor Sauce for 2.5 hours and rinsing, placing the Flow 762 in an ultrasonic cleaner for 2 minutes in tap water would loosen a lot of debris that is then flushed out with a water hose. But you have to use the ultrasonic cleaner several times to flush out the carbon.

After a second cleaning using Suppressor Sauce and several 2 minute runs in the ultrasonic cleaner, water was finally flowing out the vents.

The problem with the ultrasonic cleaner is that it will slowly eat away at the cerakote finish. Also both the Breakthrough and HUXWRX cleaners are hard on cerakote. As is heat, so the finish is not going to last anyway. Might as well do what it takes to get the carbon out.

I believe that the flow through suppressors require more weighing and cleaning than a standard baffle design. The small passages that the gases are routed through are easily clogged. The newer PIP (Purposely Induced Porosity) suppressors from PTR and Dillon may clog even easier than a Flow 762.

So weigh the suppressor before you use it and clean once it gains 0.5 oz.

Thanks, I’ve been considering cleaning one of my go-to’s.

you probably have to re-zero all your rifles now, with the weight loss
Shot with it today. There was no POI shift. I was doing some more factory ammo testing and the rifle did shoot the tightest groups it ever has with 6.5cm 120gr ELDM and 147gr ELDM which were the two I tested. Not sure if the cleaning has anything to do with that.

Love that stuff, just make sure you actually read the directions and use the hot water after you take it out of the solution. I didn't on one of my SF cans and it turned into a gummy sticky mess. Soaked it again then used the hot water, perfect.

Yeah, after reading about all of the home brews on the internet, I broke down and got a gallon of breakthrough. I now use it for whatever I need to get carbon off of. Bolts, carriers, .... that problem carbon ring in the barrel. The stuff works well. You just have to be patient with it and give it time to work.

Based on my experience with it and my cheap ultrasonic cleaner, the ultrasonic does help, but what works best is time soaking.

I've also been recycling it. I filter the stuff I used to be used again.

Cleaned my OCL Hydrogen with Breakthrough’s suppressor cleaner. I plugged one end of the suppressor filled it with the cleaner and then plugged the other end. I just let it soak for 24 hours, rinsed and repeated a second time for 24 hours. Weighed 13.47 oz when new, 14.64 oz before cleaning and 13.86 oz after cleaning.

The inside of the suppressor was very clean, but there was still some carbon stuck where the baffles meet the walls. May be next time I may try using my ultrasonic cleaner to see it will break the carbon in those areas loose.

The Breakthrough product is pretty simple to use.

I've gotta figure a way to suspend my suppressors in the ultrasonic cleaner. The finishes on my suppressors are not taking their time in the ultrasonic well.

I haven't cleaned mine yet. As per manufacturer's instructions, I give a spray of oil down the hole, turn it a few times to spread it and then store it. This is for rust prevention as it is a welded steel silencer.

If I haven't used the silencer for more than a month, chunks of carbon just falls out when shaken. I also haven't noticed any appreciable weight gain over the last 1k odd shots with the 308 and 2.5k odd shotts with the 223.

I think that some finishes like Cerakote will eventually be damaged in a ultrasonic cleaner, even when not touching the basin or other metal. I've noticed a few pin sized spots developing on the side of mine and the suppressor was stood in one end. Just the nature of the beast...
