    As already mentioned, optimum in one is not going to be optimum in another. But then what kind of range and accuracy do you really need out of the 8.5" Blackout? For semi-auto .308, I would not really go heavier than 175/178 SMK/Nosler CC. They should also work in the Blackout, but naturally...

    Subsonic .308 does and don’ts

    Hodgdon has data for Titegroup pistol powder. Flat based bullets will be shorter for that weight of bullet. I use 180gn flat base hunting bullets with an exposed rounded lead nose. The rounder nose is aerodynamic for subsonic.

    For .308 suppressed all the time, I went with the custom ported gas tube. See my post a few pages back. Or experiment and make one of your own if you have several of the really small drill bits and some time for a few range trips.

TRG mag length may allow slightly longer seating than in other rifles for example, so that would factor into more powder capacity in a case with the bullet seated further out in the case. Or Rem 700 is notorious for having along throat, so those bullets would...

    More Dillon 550 Primer Issues

    Looking at your pile of semi-primed brass, if the primer did not eat easily, then the primer pocket was not fully reamed/swaged, so the primer is bind on the residual crimp on the pocket. So it is a brass issue, not a press issue. The primer slide should align in the center of the shellplate...

    Primer pocket uniformer question

    I use the cutter to uniform the pocket on brass for the bolt gun, then do nothing after that. I believe Dave Tooley said that he never saw a need to clean pockets, so with his years of experience, I took that at face value.

    As previously noted, get the barrel vise with the set of aluminum bushings, if you cannot make your own. I could never get any kind of wood and resin set-up to work then taking off a TRG barrel. The wood would be crushed and the barrel would still spin in it.

    Gunsmithing Tikka barrel removal, what happened here?

    Looks like the first 2 turns of the threads galled onto the action, so really just a function of not having antisieze on them. The normal absurd amount of torque that Sako uses is a different story.

    I use AR-Comp, as TAC was not available when I wanted it. I would also consider Alliant 2000MR for testing if you are going to try out a few powders
