    Loading Subsonic/Accuracy Expectations?

An update from my current load development. I haven’t yet been able to tighten my 100yd groups much more than 1 moa so far. I was very pleased with the chronograph results though. A ten shot group of 220gn Berger hybrids over 10.5gn’s of CFE Black yielded exceptional results. Average MV- 1038...

    Loading Subsonic/Accuracy Expectations?

Thanks Orkan, Very good information. Was your barrel a 1 in 7 twist? Additionally, did you always use factory produced blackout brass, or did you make your own? What is your thoughts on the first round being off zero? Could it be the friction of cold rifling on the slow moving projectile?

    Loading Subsonic/Accuracy Expectations?

I’m working a load for a custom built .300 AAC Remington 700. The barrel is a 16” Bartlein 1/7 twist. I have found some inconsistencies with muzzle velocity, and I’m working hard to understand the problem. I suspect the issue may be with neck tension, and inconsistencies between neck wall...

Help! Trouble shooting with my kiddos 🥴

I honestly didn’t know where to put this thread, but here goes.... I have a young daughter and son who are of age to really start shooting and hunting. Unfortunately, I have found that both of my children are right handed and left eye dominant.🤦🏻‍♂️...

Help! Trouble shooting with my kiddos 🥴

Thanks, That’s similar to what another competitive shotgunner told me. He said to put a smudge of chapstick in the center of the lens over the dominant eye. The blurry spot would help train the brain to use the opposite eye.

Help! Trouble shooting with my kiddos 🥴

I too want my children’s experiences with firearms to be positive and enjoyable. Switching from paper to reactive targets really helped. I have since worked with my son shooting left handed. He seems to have taken to it well. I plan to take my daughter shooting tomorrow, and we’ll see how...

    Paraglide Pig Hunting..

I like your thought process, but I fear that you’d be too dependent on the prevailing winds. If one was serious, a personal dirigible would be a good option. Controllable, slow moving, and silent on an unpowered gliding strafe. Cheers http://www.personalblimp.com/

    Any SVD Shooters here?

I realize SVD’s are fairly rare in the US, but they’re definitely part of the Vintage Sniper Rifles of the world.....and my favorite! I have found that a Chinese NDM-86 has surprisingly decent accuracy. When I bought it, I was expecting 2-3 MOA at...

Accessories WTT Manners TF4A for AICS 2.0

Long shot, but throwing it out here. I have a like new, professionally bedded Manners TF4A folding stock for Remington SA with Seekins DBM. Has QD sling mounts on the left side, and a Badger EFR installed. I am looking to trade the stock and DBM for a like new 1st Gen AICS 2.0 with OD Green...

    Any SVD Shooters here?

Right on. 👍🏽 Traditionally, you’re right; the SVD was issued with a PSO-1 4x optic. Speaking with friends in Russia, they are currently also fielding the PSO 3-9X24 optic. Alpha, FSB, and other high speed Russian Operators are using S&B, and other high end glass on the SVD.

    Any SVD Shooters here?

Yes sir, I watched it. Two issues though.... The first was the rifle they fielded was chambered in 7.62x51. In addition, they used a standard 4x optic. There are higher magnification Russian optics that will allow the shooter to have a higher level of accuracy at distance over the original 4x...

Hunting & Fishing 2020 Hunting Thread: Post Your Kills!

After a lifetime of hunting animals with modern firearms, I have found the 4,000 year old hunting style of falconry to be the most rewarding. Brunhilda and I just returned from a successful week of hunting. If we were living thousands of years ago, we definitely would be able to survive by...

Hunting & Fishing Any Falconers on the Hide??

With Hawks, falconers keep them in an outside enclosure called a “Mews.” The Mews must be built to specific guidelines. This is to keep the bird from becoming injured while unattended. Mine has vertical bars spaced 1” apart. My wife calls it my jail cell! Lol With falcons, most falconers keep...
