Gunsmithing Truth about blueprinting a Rem 700

We will need to get a Mechanical Engineer or similar to crunch some numbers for us. Bohem would be perfect. If you think about the mechanical advantage that the rear of the bolt has being pushed upward by the trigger/cocking piece relationship, compared to the amount of pressure required to...

SAC: Floating Bolt Head Remington 700 prototype

Shooters, I posted this in another thread, but I thought I would share it here. I have been working on a floating bolt head Remington 700 conversion. It is not that difficult to do and has lots of benefits. I'm in the process of doing the accuracy testing and playing around with this rifle...

Gunsmithing Truth about blueprinting a Rem 700

Excaliber, I have the same OCD thoughts and tendencies when I'm building rifles. If it was not for my office manager telling me that I cannot "donate" hours of labor into a Rem 700 action just to make me feel better, I would do it to every action I touch. I believe the same things as you...

Gunsmithing Contact GAP? Yes, No, Suggestions

It should be an easy fix. I am sure the team at GAP would be happy to take care of you but here is what I would do. You need to take a small needle nose pliers and bend the trigger mounted bolt release lever a little. So to make it dummy proof. Bend the yellow lever back toward the rear of...

Gunsmithing Case head seperation Remington 700 help

Mattitude, I would be more than happy to inspect the rifle, document all the measurements and let you know what the issue could be at no charge for labor, just cover the shipping. We had JGS make us up a set of 308 gauges in Go -.002 all the way to Go +.002 and then a No go. So we can...

SAC: What do the builders shoot?

I checked my zero at lunch time, the rifle drop happened around 7:30 am. I was .3 Mils Left at that point. I zeroed the day before, the only thing is I had my suppressor (TBAC 30BA) on and off a few times since. I would have to chalk up the zero shift to the windage turret taking a direct hit...

Gunsmithing Truth about blueprinting a Rem 700

The thing about these threads is the original poster makes a controversial statement, then never shows up again. I get tired of seeing threads like this that get heart rates going for no real reason and the original poster is no where to be found. Mark

SAC: What do the builders shoot?

Alright Dudes! Here you go. Now, before anybody says anything, I enjoy sexy rifles as much as the next guy and who would not want to keep them clean looking under normal shooting conditions. Well shooting in some of these comps are not "normal shooting conditions" that I was use to. So it...

    SAC: Left Handed R700, 7mm-08. MCS-T3

Shooters, Just finished up a Friday build, the customer did not want it sitting in a Fed Ex location over the weekend, so I snapped a few pictures. Even though its "wrong handed", it feels great and is going to be a great hunting and steel banging rifle. Here are the specifications...

SAC: What do the builders shoot?

My loyalty is to Bartlein Barrels, I think they make some of the best barrels out there and I love the crew over there. I did hear great things about Shawn and his barrels, so I figured before I sell them to any customers, I would run it on my personal rifle first. I'm happy so far! Mark
