New Contest Starting Now! This Target Haunts Me
Tell us about the one that got away, the flier that ruined your group, the zero that drifted, the shot you still see when you close your eyes. Winner will receive a free scope!
Have a friend load a dud in your magazine and see if your flinching some. A flinch creeps up on you before you know it and its the devil to get rid of.
Re: tooling marks in barrel
I had a Bartlein in .257 Roberts put on old mauser here. When I got it back from the smith first thing I noticed were the circles scratched inside the bore near the muzzle. Smith told me that was where the pilot had been in the barrle when he crowned it. Ugh. In my...
Re: End of the world gun... choose wisely.
Well I thought I would chime in on some of the posts here making out like such a scenario is ridiculous. I think we've all seen what has happened in Egypt and it could happen in Pakistan also. They have nukes and quite a few of them. What if they...
Re: jewell trigger loose?
My Jewel is the same way. The safty lever has some back and forth play when it is both on and off safe. I've used it for a couple of years and have had no issues. Just the nature of the beast I think.
My build of a Stiller/Bartlien/McMillian has been pretty much a nightmare. After putting around 2 grand in it I took it out last year and discovered it wouldn't chamber neck sized only reloaded rounds. From brass that was fired in it of course. Well it would if you rotated them!
I was so...
I've always wanted one but EVERY person I talk to says they won't hit a barn door. Is there something in the design? Ruger is selling a "match" one with a laminated stock. I'm not looking for MOA but 2 inches at 100 yards would be nice. Has anyone tried out the match mini 14 with the laminated...
What does it look like in "normal" shooting hours? Is it dark enough to use in the day or is the crosshair too pale? Any opinions from users would be appreciated. Thanks!
My buddy is thinking of getting one and would like to know how they stack up to other AR clones out there. Are they a precision rifle or what? Anyone with any experiance with them I would appreciate any of your opinions. Thanks.
Re: Mink!
I live near a creek here in Southern Kentucky and minks are common. One time while fishing the creek in a jonboat a mother mink was taking her kits (minklings?) across the creek in her mouth. Most recent sighting was one run over on the highway about 20 miles from here last week.
Re: Optic for a .22 rimfire
The best all round .22 scope I've tried is the Leupold 1" 4.5x14 VX-3 objective focus. It focuses down to 25 yards but I have no trouble seeing at 20 yards on 14 power. At 4.5 power I can use it at ten feet. Its not to big or long to look out of place on a .22...
Got a idea for a 30/06 shooting the 220 sierra on down to 168 grain. Barrel will be a heavy contour and about 26 inches long. Will the standard 1-10 get me out to 1000 or should I go to 1-9 to be on the safe side? 1-9.5? Might shoot some heavy Berger VLDs also.
Re: Precision Shooting schools near KY?
The best precision shooting school in Kentucy is your local squirrel woods. If you get where you can hit a grey in the top of a hickory tree at 75 yards everything else is easy! Oh you'll need a good .22..........
Re: Barltlein Barrel Company "Possible Fail"
Never had any trouble with the two barrels I got from them. Got them about 2 and 5 months after ordering. They came exactly as I had ordered them. Unlike EVERY other barrel I've got from other makers that had something different than what I had...
I'm looking at a NEW leupold 6.5X20 with the extended twilight coatings. Anyone out there have one and can check to see how SHORT the parallax is marked on the objecttive focus ring? I think it goes down on 25 yards on the new ones and it used to go down to 50 on the older ones. The model I'm...
