    Weapon mounted light?

Re: Weapon mounted light? +1 for Jakhamr's suggestion. I run a G2 LED, in a 1" ring, mounted on a short rail at the 10 o'clock position. When I'm shooting right handed, my support thumb activates the tailcap switch. If I switch to left handed shooting, my index knuckle is in place to bump...

Which stock rifle for a newbie?

Re: Which stock rifle for a newbie? +1 for the Savage rifles. They've long been considered the most accurate "out-of-the-box" rifle, but the aftermarket was lacking, if not non-existent. That's no longer the case. The aftermarket has exploded...everything from triggers to barrels to stocks.

    Barrel cleaning ?

Re: Barrel cleaning ? Yes, its normal. Factory barrels are pretty rough, and they collect a lot of copper, especially when they're new. As they wear in, you'll see less and less build up, and the clean up will get easier. The hardest is getting the copper out of the corners, where the...

    Best Copper Remover?

Re: Best Copper Remover? No Butch's Bore Shine? The best copper remover may not necessarily be the best stuff to use. I've used Sweets on rough factory barrels, but that stuff is HARSH! If you use it, pay attention to their warning about leaving it in the barrel. It WILL dissolve...

    Rifle Scopes Scope power ???

Re: Scope power ??? Me personally...the highest low-end I would want for stand hunting in timber would be 4x, which leaves you in the 4x-16x range for most variable scopes, except for a few models.

    Snowing here!

Re: Snowing here! I'd love to have that here. I absolutely hate the heat of summer, but I can live with the snow and the cold of winter. I told the wife we're moving north when I retire...she is not amused. She has insisted on a southern winter home!

    Airport gun magazines

Re: Airport gun magazines We get students every year selling magazines for school fundraisers. There's a lot of questionable magazines available, but not gun mags. I'd love to help them, but I'm not buying something I have no interest in.

    Rifle Scopes Scope power ???

Re: Scope power ??? 800 yard deer hunting? If all youre going to be doing is long range hunting, I'd go with the most quality magnification you can afford. Most top ends are in the 24x-32x range. The problem for most hunters is, the bottom end of these scopes is usually 6x-8x, which is too...

Hunting & Fishing God looks after fools

Re: God looks after fools Glad you're ok. Safety equipment was developed for a reason, but unfortunately there are still those who chose to not use it, and we read about them every year. Stupid! Stupid! Stupid!!!

    Big Company Rant

Re: Big Company Rant It's more than just WM. My wife used to work for a law firm, primarily in workman's comp. law. I was amazed to hear stories of how the insurance companies would tell the law firm how much they were going to pay for billable services. That would never fly for those of...

Gunsmithing Re barreling with a Schneider

Re: Re barreling with a Schneider I think you're really going to like that Schneider. I have the 5P barrel. That thing shoots lights out and it cleans up ever so easy. Like a mirror finish inside. I can't say enough good about it.

    Hunting & Fishing Damn Hogs

Re: Damn Hogs Got a lot of them in the ozarks, here in MO too. No season, no tags, just free game! Talking with the guys from down south, I hear its easy to see where they've been but hard finding them.

Gunsmithing Re barreling with a Schneider

Re: Re barreling with a Schneider If you were just going back with a take-off barrel or a new factory barrel, I'd say just fit it and go. But you've spent good money on a quality custom barrel. It would be a shame not to go ahead and blue print the action while you're at it.

My 700 LTR wouldn't shoot but now its "deadly"

Re: My 700 LTR wouldn't shoot but now its "deadly" Wow, 4moa? Not acceptable...especially for a "precision rifle". My experience with the one LTR I've shot was that it was an extremely accurate rifle, routinely turning in 1/2moa. Glad you got it dialed in, but too bad you had to go the...

    Rifle Scopes Stupid Question...

Re: Stupid Question... Yep! About three years ago, a rep quoted us roughly $8,000-$11,000 depending on the model. A little it of our dept.'s price range.

    Good, cheap, sunglasses?

Re: Good, cheap, sunglasses? I've been buying Berkley or FLW fishing sunglasses from WM the last few times. Stylish glasses, with polarized lenses, and prices range from $10-$20. They even have some that have little magnifiers at the bottom of the lenses for older eyes or tiny tasks. I...

Hunting & Fishing Deer hunting w/air rifles

Airgun Hunting Here's an interesting article on airgun deer hunting now allowed in MO. Impressive...a 425 grain projectile launched from an air rifle!
