    Grendel recoil

Not to mention, it's a much kinder and gentler Hide since the old days... I remember when the word "Savage" in a thread title would get you tied to the rack :)

Guess the OP never studied Newton's 3rd law of motion...

Are Browning abolt original and Abolt 2 barrels interchangable?

I only ever had one problem, and that was with a custom contour blank. I gave a precise narrative on the dimensions wanted in the email order, and what I received was fucked up- anyone including the machinist turning it should have questioned it because it literally made no sense at all as a...

Are Browning abolt original and Abolt 2 barrels interchangable?

https://mcgowenbarrel.com/shop/chromoly-300-win-mag-10/ Interesting...doesn't specify I or 2 so probably the same tenon specs. Even if the magnum isn't what you're looking for, you should call Dan there and talk to him about what you want. Often their prefits are fully chambered but...

Are Browning abolt original and Abolt 2 barrels interchangable?

Disclaimer- never worked on one. What I can offer is that the original A-Bolts were made only up until 1994, long before production rifles were achieving the types of tolerances they do today. I suspect a "barrel swap" would be a crapshoot to headspace within tolerances, even IF the tenon specs...

    Savage barrel nut torque specs

Is that residue in the threads blasting grit? I've run into what seems to be that shit before on a few...

    Cleaning muzzle brake

If it's really caked on I give it a soak in some Carb-Out, but I try to not neglect them for that long. I have a short length of capped pipe that I pour it in, then hang the rifle upside down to soak the brake in it.

    Rimfire practice accuracy

Don't know anything about training with .22lr, but...plenty consistent enough, if you buy the good stuff (Lapua, as in Olympic Biathlon) at something like $.50 /round. Probably missing something, but seems to me that if shooting volume and precision ammo at lowest cost is the objective I don't...

Barrel moved while trying to index muzzle break

^^^ Loosen... depends on which way you're looking at it; clockwise viewed looking from the receiver end would loosen threads on both barrel and brake ;)

Barrel moved while trying to index muzzle break

^^^ What he said... If you really did move it 1/12 revolution, you've increased headspace by quite a bit- likely too much. If you have a go gauge (preferable) or a correctly sized case, take a piece of Plastigage or thin electronics solder, put it on the boltface, squish it against the...

    Gunsmithing Remington 700 Extractors - Mini M16 vs M16

Gunsmithing Hard bolt close on new R700

Spitballing here because I'm not looking at it on the bench... Does Remington still use broaching for the lug raceways in the receiver and not EDM? Looks to me like the broaching is too deep- and the lug has to work it's way over that hump I'm seeing to seat on the abutment. I can see (I...

Why don't you see more .300 WSM?

Built two of them. One, a 7 pounder for my son with a #2 contour... About 30 rounds for load development and I didn't want to shoot the fucker any more. Then a heavy 15+ lb'er for myself for long-range target. Pussycat, I can run 50+ in a range session and spot my hits because of the brake...

Shots Fired At President Trump's Butler PA Rally!

In my mind, the shooter being essentially incompetent makes the possibility of government involvement about nil. If this were a coordinated attempt, they would've used someone who wouldn't have missed and willing to die for their "cause". Thank God this wasn't the case- prayers for the loved...

Are the US Secret Service using standard Remington 700 actions?

I don't know what it is- but told wifey at the time it had to be a ballistics computer. LRF would obviously be inferior needing the time to check dope (obviously this is near PBR in this scenario but that's irrelevant to the capability they should have).

    Remington 700 Alpha 1

Rural King has the 7 mag and a few short action calibers in stock- no .300 WM

    Best bolt coating

Yeah, I got that. I was referring to the fact that once blasted, you've got that pitted surface for life. I suppose one could sand out the pitting from blasting and polish it, but then you've got a bolt body that's at least a few thou smaller in diameter than what you started with. I usually...

    Best bolt coating

Anyone used Cerakote Micro Slick? I've been tempted to try it for a long time...but didn't want to risk fucking up a perfectly fine bolt by blasting it.

    Remington quality

Rural King had a magnum ADL (can't remember now whether it was .300 WM or 7 Mag) for just over $400 last week on sale. My dumb ass snoozed a couple of days too long and missed the deal...
