    Don't let self-timing limit you if you can't find one large enough. Assuming a cylindrical brake, easy enough for any smith (or any machinist for that matter) to simply face brake as needed to get it to clock correctly- it's quick and easy.

    Every rifle I own for LR shooting has a brake- impossible to spot my impacts without one. Any pussy next to me has a problem with it, they can fuck off. That said, doesn't mean I don't extend common courtesy to minimize the impact on the shooters next to me when possible.

    Even light sporter contour barrels can be threaded for a muzzle device. With minimal shoulder, an adapter can be fixed in place with rocksett or loctite then machined/threaded concentric to the bore- or you can select a brake or can that will index off the flat muzzle instead of a shoulder.

    The PRC is ballistically similar to the 6.5 Swede and the 6.5 x .284. At extended ranges, the WSM is going to deliver more energy than the PRC, and this is an important consideration when it comes to Elk.
