    Ray Bans??

So, I've just received a pair of Ray Ban Aviator glasses from my sons for my birthday. Just wondering. They've glass lenses. I'm a little concerned about using them for shooting (which is what they purchased them for). Glass shards in the eye doesn't sit well with me. Can't really find...

Is Uncle Sam buying up all the 22lr ammo??

No...it's us. I was in my local gunshop this weekend to purchase a couple of hundred rounds of .22WMR. Another fellow walked up to the counter with 14 bulk paks of .22LR...three different brands, all they had on the shelf. The clerk joked that he must be planning a major shoot. "nope, just...

Tired of Companies who do not know the law

x2 Been waiting for this one. Not quite the same scenario, but I sell optics in Canada. Sometimes (not often) we have pricing that beats the U.S. We get a flood of sales requests from south of the border that we don't accept because without very specialized licencing we just can't do it...and...

    Work and my vacation rights?

I used to have this crazy-assed dedication to my job. Figured that the job gave me a paycheque (I'm Canadian..hence the spelling ;) ) to enjoy all the things I loved. Then when the economy went south a few years ago I noticed that they did some things to some employees that were really...

Finally got a proper shooting vehicle :)

Don't know what the prices are in the U.S., but in Canada an NXS 3.5-15x50 goes for $2800. I don't look at U.S. prices because we can't ship scopes across the border as an individual. I have a feeling I'd cry if I new what they were down there :(

Finally got a proper shooting vehicle :)

Guess you got a Friday afternoon vehicle (and why I never rely on one persons opinion) Here's some of the research I did on Trailblazer reliability 2006 Chevrolet TrailBlazer Reliability - MSN Autos Lemon-Aide and Consumer reports are similar...about an 8/10 rating for reliability. Sorta like...

    Demoralizing day at the range

I think many of us need to keep in mind that many of the really good, consistent shooters put a heck of a lot more ammo downrange than most of us. I come from a photographic background (mainly as a supplier) and one of my customers a few years back made a very valid point. He said that a lot of...

Rusty Buck...now is the time to say 'gee, sorry guys, didn't think of that' Then at least you appear to be a little less of a jakwad.

Finally got a proper shooting vehicle :)

Thanks Valkries...the kind of response I was looking for. But to guys like nesikabay ...you remind of the the responses to the people who are happy to have purchased their first good scope, say a $500 Bushnell and in return get the 'gee, if it ain't a $3000 Nightforce you've wasted your...

Finally got a proper shooting vehicle :)

Okay, after two kids (now 10 & 13) and the resultant minivans...three in the last 13 years it seemed proper to get a proper shooting vehicle now that they are out of the cars seats and there are no more home reno's in the foreseeable future. So after a lot of shopping last week we picked up a...

Spotting Scope For 200 Yard Paper Target Shooting

3x on something like the Konus. I started with the Bushnell Bushnell Spacemaster 15 45x50 Collapsible Angled Spotting Scope w 25x Eyepiece | eBay and though fine at 100m it was pretty difficult to clearly see .22WMR at 150m. I moved up to this Celestron Ultima 80 - 45 Degree Spotting Scope...

Bridge the gap--weapons of war--weapons of peace

Pretty much what everyone else has said. In 2007 I bought my (then) six year old a Red Ryder, after watching A Christmas Story (a fantastic movie to get a child interested in shooting IMO). Spent a couple weeks going over gun safety before he was actually allowed to load it up and shoot. There...

    Stabilized binoculars rugged enough?

I'm a Canadian supplier of the Canon stabilized to a number of LE and military agencies. Truth be told when these users started requesting the Canon's I was leery. One of my first orders was for a surveillance unit that was replacing their Swarovski's and I just didn't think they'd be the...

Do people actually use their slings when shooting precision rifle?

I'd agree with the above. In a tactical competition their probably just isn't time. But it makes a definite difference. I used to shoot Olympic style air rifle and .22. Without a sling you wouldn't have a chance of even qualifying.

rimfire in the cold, what do you know about it?

Crap on a stick (I love quoting Big Bang Theory). So yesterday was forecast to be the first nice day of the spring with temps forecast for 8c (about 41F I think) and calm winds. Took the afternoon off. The boys are on spring break so we headed to the range. Got there about 1PM. Yes, it was...

Scope for the New Ruger 17HMR

I'd like to think price is a guarantee of quality...maybe I've just been lucky with less expensive stuff (I know we're not talking things like Nightforce here). I put a $500 (with rings) Hawke 6.5-20x Sidewinder Tactical Hawke Optics | Hawke Sidewinder 30 Tactical SF 6.5-20x42 20X Mil Dot on...

    I'm with Phil.

Sorry, I just want to be clear here. We can't discuss freedom of speech...something all to many Canadian and American service people have died defending. In truth, if this is the case...you don't need to ban me...I quit.
