    Greater Idaho resolution passes

For the last 2 to 3 years, the Port has been trying to get Federal money to develop infrastructure to receive cargo containers. Money has been received to improve the rail line, primarily bridges, that runs from Coos Bay to Eugene. Note the rail line between Coos Bay and Coquille is basically...

    Greater Idaho resolution passes

I lived in Lewiston ID in the late 90's and remember when Washington residents were voting on a state wide bond measure to replace the Kingdome in Seattle. People in Eastern Washington were furious they would be taxed on something that would be of zero benefit to them. Unfortunate when the...

    Greater Idaho resolution passes

Wish Coos County in Oregon could vote on this. I know it won't happen but maybe it will wake up people in the Willamette valley to how the rest of the state views their antics. Most likely, they just don't care.

Random question for those working in the legal profession.

Company I used to work for would pay you to attend court as a witness if you were subpoenaed. Like providing a copy of your jury duty summons to be paid your regular wage, you had to provide a copy of the subpoena to be paid. I don't recall ever hearing of anyone being called as a witness but...

    Maggie’s What's Your View II

On Monday the 2024 World Jet Boat Championship ran a leg on a local river. This race runs mostly on the Rogue River and will be on the Klamath River for a day also but they were running Monday on the Coquille river in tidewater, from Bandon to the city of Coquille. There are four classes of...

We did this for a gun rest when shooting p-dogs in Wyoming. With power windows makes elevation changes really easy.

Southern Oregon coast is better, just saying. Plus you are no where near Portland.

Around here wood chips are exported to Asia with two facilities that load chips into ships. Ships come in about every 10 to 12 days for chips at each facility. Have been told it takes 1500 truck loads to fill one ship.

Looks like Ted's info for Oregon is wrong. Southern two counties on the coast, Coos and Curry, are very red counties. As many guns in the population here as when I lived in Idaho.

Either they can't read or don't care.

    First time shame on you….

In June 1979, 41 sperm whales washed up near Florence. I was living there at the time and had a summer job with the Forest Service. We went down to the beach to see the whales, it was sad and awe inspiring to see their size. I remember thinking the people pulling on a rope trying to drag them...

    Introducing kids to shooting

Frist time my oldest son did any shooting was about a month before he turned 4 years old. I had just gotten a 1911 in .45 and we went to my parents place to shoot. I took a 22 revolver as he had been saying he wanted to shoot too. The 22 was too heavy for him to shoot by himself so I helped him...

    First time prairie dog hunting

Used to meet up with friends in central Wyoming to shoot P-dogs. Had a rancher who let us shoot on his land and land he leased, and we covered a lot of country. Generally we had 4 to 8 of our kids with us which changed up how we set up to shoot so we could get them into shooting positions...

    Chuck Mawhinney passed away today.

I met Chuck about 1980 or so when he worked for my (then to be) father in law at the Mapleton Ranger District (USFS). He and my FIL would make homemade wine and then sample it, well more than just sample it. He told me about making homemade beer and if a teaspoon of sugar was needed for...

    Guy tells a hunting story

Long, long ago when I lived in the Denver area was out with some friends shooting p-dog on a ranch. Owner comes along to talk to us. About 125 yards away a dog stands up and we start taking turns shooting at it offhand but can't hit it. Friend has a Marlin 94 in 357 but is shooting 38 spl...

That MRI you desperately need? 2 year wait and ten times as expensive.

Helium shortages/cost increase has a direct impact on the manufacturing of semiconductors. When I was in that industry, shortages were a concern but we never ran out, just had to pay more for it, a lot more.

Not a large enough area to justify using something like this. Also I would have to drive 60 miles each way to rent one. By the time I picked it up and returned it, I would probably have more time in driving than it took me to remove the old flooring.

So true. Working on the latest remodel project (reference the retired guy thread). Hardwood floor with old linoleum glued to it. Then on top of that was 1/8" plywood nailed down and vinyl flooring on top of that. And going the other direction is this. So far I have counted six...
