tighten it down until its snug, then go to the next gas tube hole. you might have to torque then loosen a few times to get it to tighten up enough to line up on the next gas tube hole correctly.
Can anyone help me get a full auto M14 apart? Customer (LEO) wants it put into a sage stock, and i cannot get the operating rod out because of the full auto parts. I dont think i need to take the full auto mechanism all the way apart just to field strip the gun.

i put it on the ground w/ the handle touching the ground and the L shaped allen wrench in the slot so it stick up a couple of inches then step on it to break it free. make sure you position it so you are loosening it up not tightening it...

Looks like it says ground to your specs, so you would need to measure your reciever, subtract whatever clearance you want it to allow and order accordingly. other than that its a direct part swap and shouldnt require a gunsmith unless you are not able to measure properly...

Overall it wasnt too bad, 2.5 hours and a million questions. ended up w/ one small infraction because i didnt sign a 4473 i did last week.
definatly a shock and i was pretty nervous the whole time, but i came out of it pretty unscathed w/ a license still intact.

i have found that savages ejectors will become weak right before you see pressure signs. i have replaced many of them. i think the issue is they dont retract 100 percent into the bolt face as my first pressure signs that i see is ejector marks on...
