    Suppressed 6.5CM barrel length

I have an 18" 6.5CM I run 123's at 2800 fps. With that said, I also have a 6.5x47L I run 140gr's in at nearly 2700 fps. I have never shot the 140grs in the CM, but would bet you could push them faster than 2500 fps. Another side note. below is a picture of a buck I killed at about 375 yds...

Short barrel - light 6.5 hunting rifle

I have a 18" x47L that I run 140's in just under 2700 and and 18" 6.5 CM I run 123's in it 2800. The factory Hdy AW 129gr SP shoot lights out in the CM around 2750 fps.

    Do it all hunting rifle?

Either one of those would work just fine, but as WYFox stated I would be looking for them in a lighter platform. For a pure hunting rifle, those are just too heavy for my liking.

    What bottom metal for 223?

I have had good luck with PTG DBM and both MDT and AM mags for the .223 case

    McMillan Game Scout Pics.

These pics were all taken a while ago. Actually they all wear Triad Stock packs. The low comb never bothered me too bad, but the Triads are an improvement.

Not sure this meets the definition of a Classic????? But one of my favorites for deer hunting. Tikka 7-08 in a McM Sako Hunter chopped to 20".

Looking to shed some weight. (shorty 6.5x47L build)

The only other bullet I tried other than the 140 gr HPBT was a 139 gr Scenar and they just weren't as accurate. Looking at Bob's thread again, he was able to get 2920 from the 100 gr. I think 2800 is going to be doable. I suppose you have a bit of a wait until your stock shows up but keep us...

Looking to shed some weight. (shorty 6.5x47L build)

I have a 18" 6.5CM I built mostly for my son, but that was my intent there as well.....to run 123gr bullets to 2800fps. I have seen some data where 40.0-41.0 gr of Varget could get it there. Varget produced some good velocities and exceptional accuracy with the 140's in the x47L, but pressured...

    6x45 or 6.5 Creedmoor

From a guy that owns both, it really is an apples to oranges comparison. With hat said, I do shoot 105gr in my 6x45 and they do fit in MDT and AM at an OAL of 2.485" 10 thous off the lands. I get about 2650 fps from a 20" bbl, but don't believe you could ever make it compete with the CM any way...

Looking to shed some weight. (shorty 6.5x47L build)

I am running 140 gr HPBTs a shade under 2700 fps. BTW, I do love this setup for hunting.

Looking to shed some weight. (shorty 6.5x47L build)

I think you should meet your weight goal pretty easily. I have an 18" RVC in a standard fill McM Gamescout that weighs about 12 lbs running a NF NXS 5.5-22x50

    16-18 inch build questions.

I have stuck to the 140's exclusively. Haven't shot anything lighter.

    Youth 243 build

Not sure how old your kids are, but my 8 year old has been shooting my 6.5x47L for almost 2 years now...enough that I built a 6.5 CM for him to the same specs. Any one of the calibers listed will get the job done within 400 yds. Like OpticSpecialist said, start them on some of the Hdy "reduced...
