A question for all you manly men target shooting an M40

My brother has a Remington 700 Mountain Rifle in .270. This is a very light rifle that recoils quite vigorously and he always had trouble shooting it off a bench. Every year he would come to me to sight it in for him. A few years ago we came to the realization that the problem was his being a...

I like older Winchesters especially .22's

I would love to get hold of a model 52 of just about any persuasion. A Model 75 would be nice too. There was a Model 75 target on the rack next to this one. Half the condition but over twice the price. I went cheap this time. I also have a Model 74 semi auto that belonged to my grandfather...

I like older Winchesters especially .22's

Winchester Model 69a just as it came off the rack at Cabela's . Some surface rust and dings and dents in the stock but the bore and chamber are nice, the trigger wasn't as bad as I was afraid it might be. I put 10 rounds through it just to hear it go bang and to the rifles credit it...

    'Best' Iron Sights Shooter

Other than the lack of windage adjustment I personally think the mk1 sights on the no.4 Lee-Enfield are every bit as good and even a bit better than the 03a3 sights

Hunting & Fishing 7mm Rem Mag vs black bear??

Re: 7mm Rem Mag vs black bear?? I dare say that as many or more black bear have been shot here in Maine with a 30-30 lever action as there have with all other calibers combined with the possible exception of the 30-06. Bow hunting bear is popular here as well. The 7mm mag. is more than...

what to do with bubba'd lee enfield?

Re: what to do with bubba'd lee enfield? How's the rifling in the rest of the barrel? If it's still fairly good maybe you could just cut the barrel back a bit more to remove the bend and recrown it.

Gunsmithing Best release agent for bedding?

Re: Best release agent for bedding? I've bedded four rifles using Acraglas Gel bedding kits. I used the release agent that came in the kit every time. Works very well, easy to use and very durable. I did my winchester Model 70 about 30 years ago and it works and looks as good now as it did then.

    Windham Weaponry?

Re: Windham Weaponry? I knew about the Bushmaster connection. Windham Weaponry is not Bushmaster. I handled several AR15s over the last few months and the Windham rifles seemed outwardly to be of better fit and finish than most. I was wondering more about function of the their rifles from...

    Windham Weaponry?

I have decided I need an AR15. I was looking at a Windham Weaponry rifle. I like the idea of them being made here in Maine. I was wondering what the general consensus was on the company, their products and their service. Thanks for your time.

    7.62x54 SMLE???

Re: 7.62x54 SMLE??? A large portion of Indian built 7.62 Enfields where converted standard .303 rifles not the 7.62 specific actions. Canadian DCRA 7.62 No.4 rifles where also converted from .303 rifles. No problems with ether of these. Ether action should handle the 7.6x54 just fine.

Interesting excerpt from an old gun book

“Slowly but surely the male citizenry is becoming emasculated to the point of utter helplessness. Sliding along, content in their weakness, glorying in their inability to do things. Proud of the fact that they’ve never been taught to use their hands.-and blind also to the fact that they know...

    Military Firearms collection

Re: Military Firearms collection I think you may find military surplus firearms collecting to be quite costly if you jump in both feet without doing a lot of research. I believe you can save your self a lot of headach by at first picking one type and researching it thoroughly before making a...
