Would there be interest in a 340-360 grain 375 Cal A-max? Need a little more info...

I'm at the Hornady booth at Shot asking about this. I'm the second guy today. The guy here said it may be considered if they continue to get interest. Sounds like they would need to sell over 100,000 of hem for it to be worthwhile. IF YOURE AT SHOT STOP BY HORNADY AND TELL EM WHAT U THINK!

Initial Reloading Notes for .375 Cheytac for DTA HTI

Here's the target from the above loads. Windy again, but I felt like I was shooting pretty good. I'm somewhat disappointed in the accuracy results. The best group on the bottom right is 1" center to center. I was hoping for .5" - but I'm used to shooting 3 shot groups. What's a good 5 shot...

    Time to get a gunsafe

As far as general principles go: One thing is fire protection. You can look up statistics on house fires, but the fact is they're very rare, and you can try to ascertain your particular risk of a fire based on factors such as whether you smoke, if you have a woodburner, the age of your home...

Initial Reloading Notes for .375 Cheytac for DTA HTI

OK, I went to the range today. The testing showed that I have an apparent "node" at about 136.0 grains. Granted, that was shooting only 3 shot groups at 134, 135, 136, and 136.5 grains. But I felt that , given the cost of this experiment, that I would settle on 136 grains. It shot about 1...

Got muzzle brake and it changed accuracy. Why?

here is an experience that may be relevant. A close buddy of mind got a GAP gun in 300 WM. He took it to another "gunsmith" who installed a YHM brake/adapter for a YHM titanium suppressor with a crush washer. As a side note, the GAP guys are not fans of the YHM suppressors. In any case, we...

Did CheyTac ammo almost blow up me and my DTA HTI today?

Yeah, sorry. I reread the OP and realized that I was rambling about too much info and I did not specify adequately. I edited to make more clear, I hope.

Did CheyTac ammo almost blow up me and my DTA HTI today?

Range day with the 375. Tested my initial reloads which will be reported in another thread running under Reloading. Today's testing confirms previous observations that the 350 SMKs from Cheytac shoot very well. The group below on the left is 5 shots with these. The 3 were all touching and I...

Initial Reloading Notes for .375 Cheytac for DTA HTI

My to most accessible local ranges also ban 50 BMG for a litany of poorly considered reasons....but the Cheytacs are OK. You should show up with a 20mm Vulcan and tell them "it's not on the list"

Initial Reloading Notes for .375 Cheytac for DTA HTI

I have found little specific information for loading this even after cruising the forums for 2 months. I'll post what I've decided to do and execute some loads today with all the background information both as a record for me, and for others who may be working up their own loads. Background...

Look what showed up in the mail from Nebraska today....

Good info, thanks. I saw that article but didn't note the load. 350 grains is 350 grains, generally. But I will work up to that cautiously

Look what showed up in the mail from Nebraska today....

OK. So I took a "factory" round from CheyTac loaded with a 350 grain SMK. I did an autopsy on it. It was loaded almost to compressed, I could BARELY hear the powder when shaking it. I pulled the bulled. Bullet weighs 350.5 grains. Powder charge is 136.6 grains. It is an extruded powder...

Rifle Scopes My inexpensive way of leveling scopes when mounted. (with pics)

Here's a challenge to everybody who thinks their scope is level. Well, 2 challenges, really 1.) hang a 15' section of paracord at 30-40 yards and recheck your plumb with your rifle level at this longer distance, over a longer section of the reticle. Every time I have done this, I have found...

Best Temp insensitive substitute for RE-19

I have a load for my 7mm Rem Mag that shoots lights out. 64 grains RE19 under a 162 AMAX. One hole. Problem is temperature sensitivity. I have a lot of IMR 4350, and Retumbo and smaller amounts of several others that I could test. I don't really wanna mess with something that works, but...
