Do I need to Trim all brass to 2.000" so all are the same length?

I load 6.5CM. Case length is 1.920 and 'trim to' is 1.910. For load development I use 1XF brass and trimmed to the same length, 1.918. After that, I segregate my brass in times fired. Their trim length is 1.918" or shorter. The shortest piece I've measured was 1.914". Which I don't...

WTB FN SPR Hinged Floor Plate (edit): Got what I needed, case closed. :)

Chingon, this is what I have. And am wanting to get the bottom metal with a more flush to stock fit. The holes match up with the holes on your piece, as my nephew has the same (looking) bottom metal and mag. So, in the end I do not need a bottom metal with hinged floor plate. Shoot me a...

TiborasaurusRex shooting a water bottle at 1072 yards with a .260

Frank: I think you did a good job reviewing Rex's seminar on your podcast. I've watched many of his Sniper 101 videos and learned some things I did not know. As I have here. He has a good personality and style of teaching. Hard to review or critique some one else who teaches things you...

WTB FN SPR Hinged Floor Plate (edit): Got what I needed, case closed. :)

Hi Chingon, thanx for reply. Just want to be sure............. You have the DBM metal and the trigger guard is part of this. So, essentially your unit would sit pretty close to flush with the stock. It protrudes a little bit from the underside of the stock, but, essentially looks flush...

WTB FN SPR Hinged Floor Plate (edit): Got what I needed, case closed. :)

I have an FN PBR (SPR) action and want the hinged floor plate bottom metal system for it. I've noticed box magazine conversion kits for sale so am wondering whether any of you SPR owners have done the conversion and have the hinged floor plate and parts left over and for sale? TIA, lg

    Gunsmithing 6.5mm Creedmoor freebore:

@Abn- shooting Berger target hybrids was the bullet I had in mind for this rifle and why I got to thinking about a shorter FB/throat. But, after asking here and thinking things thru I decided I might want to shoot other bullets later down the road. And the 6.5s I have now with the SAAMI fb...

    Gunsmithing 6.5mm Creedmoor freebore:

Thanx SS. I think you are right. Sometimes I can 'get to thinking' and that can be dangerous. I've got 2 other 6.5s w/saami spec chambers and nice accurate loads worked up for those. So, keeping the chamber to the same spec as these should help with load development. lg

Gunsmithing Bushing a Remington 700 firing pin. Is it necessary?

It's also a possibility that the firing pin itself is protruding further than spec.

    6.5CM...move away from 140 ELD-M?

You're getting 2680 and using 42.2 gns of RL-17? Wow. I'm at that and a few FPS higher using only 40.4 gns of RL-17. Hornady brass, 1-3x fired, Fed 210 primers. COAL 2.80 using either Hornady 140 ELD-M or Hornady 140 HPBTs. 24" Chrom-Moly 5R barrel. I'm dropping my powder and trickling...

    Gunsmithing 6.5mm Creedmoor freebore:

I'm having a rifle built chambered in 6.5CM. I've researched and it seems the SAAMI freebore spec is .199". Is there any advantage to having the freebore shortened in length? If so , how much? I'm inclined to leave the spec alone as I think it would enable me to shoot a wider variety of...

    Gunsmithing Bore scope

I'm happy with my Lyman. I like the camera feature. When I got it, I had a new rifle and therefore barrel. A rifle with a few hundred rounds fired and a rifle with 1000+. So, I immediately scoped all three barrels and took photos to see the comparative differences. And for my own record...

    Best ar10 6.5 creedmoor under 3000

Check out Rock River Arms. I'm liking mine and been out to 800 with it (I'd go further when I can find a place) using Hornady American Gunner 140 HPBT. Should bring you in about $1000 under budget. Here is my zero target-
