Checked around on all the big players, nobody seems to make a set of cantilevered rings or mounts lower than 1" for 30mm or 34mm tubes. Just no demand? On most rigs, I can get away with 0.8" for a 56mm objective. Putting an AR-height mount just makes me run out of riser adjustment.
What is this I keep hearing about if a company (say scope company like Leupold or Schmidt & Bender) gets a contract, they can't sell the same item for less to a civilian? Fact or fiction? Searching online returned not many results because the phrase is too long / coincides with too many things.
Just out of curiosity, why aren't barrel channels opened up more to ensure they're free-floating. Even high-end ones run awfully close; maybe even touching under whip. Is it just an aesthetics thing? Why not just do 3/16" or quarter gap by default?
Having owned a Cronus BTR, and Razor GEN II, I'm looking for a budget scope based on glass ONLY.
