Owning both the XDs and G42 I can say that I could easily pocket carry a G42 but not the size and weight of the XDs nor the Shield. The Glock 42 is not tiny like a Bodyguard or LCP but are much nicer shooting and using overall.
A huge factor for me is also consistency with my defensive guns which is some type of 9mm Glock. My G42 is for occasional carry when my G19 is too big for whatever reason. The Sig P938 is a good gun but is similar to a 1911 in configuration which I don't want to train for.
I picked up my G42 about a month ago and it's still unshot, I'm actually looking forward to taking this out the next time I have a chance to hit the range.

I forgot to mention that my problem Gen 4 G19 did have all the current parts (RSA and 30274 ejector) before I started testing, and the erratic ejection and BTTF happened with various ammo from weak 115gr to 147gr HST +P.
My current Gen 4 G19 test shot in early 2012 and had horrible ejection that went in every direction and occasional brass that went straight to my face and right eye, I thought about sending it back to Glock as it was not improving after a few range trips. Fortunately my friends over at Apex...
Now that I handled them for a bit longer, I decided that the newly revised Trijicon HD's work fantastic on my Glock 17. I'm going to shoot them and decide if I want to put them on all my handguns.
Just an FYI, certain models of the P238 have ambidextrous safeties like the newest Scorpion models: P238 Scorpion New from SIG SAUER®, the latest offering in the Scorpion family, this P238 shares the same Flat Dark Earth, custom finish as the 1911, P220®, P226® and P229® versions. Hogue®...
Not sure what you mean, the hammer isn't lowered while reholstering but they refer to the thumb on a decoked hammer during holstering to make sure a foreign object isn't pulling the trigger.
So I've had a few people ask me about "The Gadget" prototype that I have on my Glock 19, I honestly can't say much personally but I'll link others to more information on it. Patent US20130000173 - Safety device for a striker fired weapon - Google Patents And a detailed topic on it: The Gadget...
