Watch Out for Scammers!
We've now added a color code for all accounts. Orange accounts are new members, Blue are full members, and Green are Supporters. If you get a message about a sale from an orange account, make sure you pay attention before sending any money!
Wow Ian, so serious. I was making a joke of sorts. Breathe my friend, it's all in fun. I'm retired and what use to be a profession is now a hobby, and an expensive one at that. So I don't see barrels and etc as investments, unless you count blowing money on the pleasure of a hobby an...
I love how my Henry Big Boy .44 magnum takes them, one shot - done. They're dead before they hit the ground and that rifle is beautifully accurate out to 200 yards. I've never shot it for groups but it hits pigs just fine.
The first target is 5 shots through a Green Mountain .22 barrel (20") at 50 yards. I have another .22 with a GMB and it performs the same. Needless to say, I'm very happy with them and they are my first GMBs. The second target is my Ruger .308 RPR with 20" cold hammer forged barrel. That target...
My brother has a BL-22 that is his first rifle my Dad bought him when he was 13. That was 40 years ago. It is one of the most beautiful rifles I have seen, with high gloss wood and bluing that looks like glass. He still takes rabbits with it at 100 yards and it still looks brand new.
The farthest I have had the opportunity to operate my .308 has been 1000 yards, at a range, with no issues. I'm certain I could take it out farther if I knew someone with that much land. There are several posts in the RPR challenge on Ruger.com that have hit targets past 1000 and an entry at...
Get a keymod pic rail for it. Didn't your RPR come with a keymod pic rail? MY Gen II did but I used it at the 6 for the bipod. You can get more at Ruger.com. Or I'm sure Midway has them as well. Maybe they don't fit the holes on top? Now thinking about it, I wonder. But I don't have my RPR...
I'd put money on the gap in the extractor recess. That gap that is exposing the cartridge is only an indication of a bigger problem. I would bet the chamber is also too loose and so gases are prone to escape and since the gap is the path of least resistance, that is where they blow out, thus...
Just for fun, and some color to the collection: Tactical innovations receiver, bolt, handle, trigger group, and rings Flatline ops bolt buffer Green Mountain 20" Vortex Crossfire II 6-18 x 44 Boyd's Blaster in Zombie Bedded, floating, etc
I wanted to build a little red hotrod 10-22. So I ordered all the stuff and when the Boyd's stock came in, it was more pink than red. So much for "Applejack" being as it looked in the pictures. Oh well, I decided to build this one for my wife and she loves it. Funny, it looks more red in the...
Exactly. Have you seen some of the custom Ruger 10-22's? I am building one at the moment - polished, anodized, colored stock etc. It's too much fun and can be addicting. Why not the RPR? The black rifle gang will think it's an abomination but that's OK - 1/2 inch groups speak for themselves.
I think it's form vs. function. The FDE with some black mixed in just looks baddass. The OD with some black mixed in looks very functional for the type of terrain we would most likely use the rifle. I don't see myself ever returning to the desert but I sure like the FDE look. So if I stay true...
I love Cerakote but I'm going to wait a bit until the rifle shows some wear. I shoot a lot so it shouldn't be too long. Might as well get something out of this finish before tearing it all down and giving it a make-over... if I can wait it out. I'm really loving the two tone FDE and black look.
Testimony that the shooter behind the rifle is more important to target acquisition than the rifle. I've seen guys at the range with $7K AI rigs that can't put a few shots together, much less in the bullseye.
I had the same problem (off-center hand guard) and it's most likely the mounting flange that is secured by a retaining nut adjacent to the barrel nut (on a Gen 2). As you know, the hand guard is screwed to this mount with 6 screws. The hand guard has an alignment fork that straddles the top of...
My Gen 2 had the same issue, as well as the hand guard being slightly off-center, and the muzzle brake being canted. I guessed mine was assembled on a Friday afternoon. Call me anal, obsessive, whatever, but I like my machines to be perfect. I don't expect anything to come from a manufacturer...
I think it's crazy how different barrels/actions, even made in the same factory on the same machines will prefer different ammo. That aspect of the rifle gives it a personality that makes it feel more "real" to me than just a collection of machined parts. BTW, thanks. The weather was beautiful...
