Rifle Scopes S&B Klassik, VX5 or SHV 3-10?

If you buy used S&B you could end up with 3.2 mil or the newer 4.8mil Bdc turret. I'm on a similar search for a hunting scope. I've also been considering the Leica amplus 6 in a 3-18x44i . The cons are moa and 2nd focal plane.

    Custom reticles and optics nerds

I have a pentax pf65ed. I would be in for a custom eyepiece if this is possible. 20 to 32x would be ideal. I run a fixed pentax xw14 eyepiece now which puts me at 28x with 65mm body. Clarity with the fixed eyepiece is pretty darn good imho. Keep us posted on what you find.

what good is a spotting scope without a decent (front focal) reticlue

I think Vortex has the right idea with interchangeable eyepieces. Sell the same scope but the user gets to select the eyepiece for their needs. Birders and some hunters don't want a reticle, but the small "sliver" of us do. Now if they just offered it in their small scopes. I have a Pentax...

Any idea when we might see H4350 again?

Interesting how supply differs from one region to another. I was in a gunshop yesterday and they had a ton of H4350. Of course what I was looking for...Varget was out and hardly ever seems to come in. The day Varget comes in its gone! Varget and IMR 4064 seems to be the main demand here.

Rifle Scopes Hunting Scope Advice Leica ER or S&B Summit

Thanks for the input. The local guy backed out on selling the S&B and traded it instead on a Swarovski Z5 3.5-18x50 with the ballistic reticle. I looked at the Z3 in person, and my concern is the eye box seems a little unforgiving. The Z3 has 3.5" of eye relief. I'm thinking I really need 4"...

Rifle Scopes Hunting Scope Advice Leica ER or S&B Summit

Guys, I need some advice on this one. The scope will be mounted on a Ruger No.1 300H&H for hunting. Most shots will be less than 150yd with the possibility of an occasional max 300yd shot. I am going to look at a used S&B Summit 2.5-10x40 locally for about $1,100. The Leica 2.5-10x42 demos can...

Rifle Scopes Anyone ever purchase from B and H in Newyork ?

I have bought quite a bit of cameras and equipment from them in the past and never had a problem. But, for a scope I would go with the offer from Scott.

    soil cement

Totally agree with all of the advice so far. My only experience with soil cement is for public roadways and their required loads, which is probably quite a bit beefier than may be required for you purposes. For the soil cement 100lbs per 144 sq. ft. assuming a tillage/mixing depth of 4" would...

    Pentax PF 80ED

I know I'm a little late here but I'll give my experiences. I have the PF-65 angled version with the XF-20-60 Eyepiece. I have had it for about 10yrs and have used it in a limited capacity for hunting, but mostly just for watching wildlife and target shooting. Pros: I chose the PF-65 over the...

Sidearms & Scatterguns Not exactly K-Bars, but KITCHEN knives...

Re: Not exactly K-Bars, but KITCHEN knives... The wife uses Wustof Classic Ikon, we've had them for about two years. They hold an edge pretty well. Any of the major brands will be a huge step up. We looked at Shun, Wustof, and Henckels. The wife has small hands and the Ikons fit her the best...

    Rain Gear

Re: Rain Gear ^^ #1 on the Frog-Toggs. I have a pair that I've used all winter at work. I use mine around construction sites. I've wore mine in the pouring rain at a stretch of 2-3 hours and remained completely dry. I've tried pricier jackets made by Marmot and North Face. When they tear I'm...
