Not sure why you would want to lighten one. The rifle is surely not designed as a hunting rifle in anyof the supplied calibers. One of the highlights to the RPR in my mind is the ease of shooting it. The added weight is one of the things that i believe makes it easy to shoot. Without the weight...
Hell if we are going to go there, Get her a set of Holland and Hollands. Actually, you can just buy her a Range Rover outfitted with a pair of then in a wooden presentation case. Its only a little over 200 K. For your convenience, the website is: https://www.hollandandholland.com/range-rover/...
I felt like the RPRs I have bought (5.56 and 6.5) really needed a trigger upgrade. When firing a round, the blade in the trigger felt like there was sand in the mechanism. The feel made me believe the trigger pull was harder than it probably was. Replaced them both with Timney's and couldn't be...
You guys have me wondering... Why would you want to lighten a long range rifle?? Seems to me (from what I have read) that heavier increases stability and to an small extent reduces recoil. Seems if you want something lighter you would buy a standard field rifle in the caliber of your choice and...
Been looking for the same info. Pretty cold right now to shoot it in the midwest. on page 53 about 3/4 of the way down 300 WM slick said "I stepped outside and shot off one round in to a dirt pile just to say I shot it (it's something I've always done since I got my first gun as a teenager...
I agree. IF safety is paramount (and it should be) how can dropping a weapon not be a serious offense? Because it did or didnt pass an imaginary line in my mind isnt the point. To me it is not so much what did happen as what could have happened. There or not, this seems to be a no brainer.
let me ask one more question to maybe keep some money in my pocket vs that of the local gun store, At what point is it better to have a 338 vs the 6.5 Creed? The 6.5 at 800-1000 is not hard to shoot accurately. I have hit steel at 1200 without a lot of difficulty so where is the break point that...
Badger makes a good set of rings that are what they call USMC rings. I have them on my S&B scope on my 6.5. They have a six screw pattern in the front and four in the back. They hold everything real well and don't seem to work their way loose. They are not fancy but they work. Got them at...
Sounds like you have it pretty dialed in. I have tried some lighter stuff but mine doesn't like much under 70 gr in either 556 or 223. The group size goes up to about 4 inches at 100 yards when i go light. I don't reload so I am sure that is part of the problem.
Slick Have you shot it yet? I have heard that the muzzle break on it really reduces recoil to a "manageable level". Just was wondering if it is still a shoulder killer or perhaps Ruger has somewhat tamed the beast.
I picked up a 556 after owning a 6.5 gen 2 for a while now. My 556 likes the heavier bullet weights. Was all over the place with lighter factory rounds. switched to a heavier bullet and it tightened up to near the accuracy of my 6.5. Not sure if this is a trend with the 556 but you may want to...
