Rifle Scopes Athlon Optics -New floating center dot reticle

I'm different than most of you guys. I like my chicks skinny and my reticles fat. :) And I love FFP reticles with a floating center dot. My all-time favorite is the MP-8 reticle from IOR. I've got it in 3-18x42 and 3.5-18x50 (illuminated). I love 'em both. The center dot on these is 0.1 MIL...

    MagnetoSpeed Sporter issue

I've had a Magnetospeed V3 for three years now and it has been dead nuts reliable. Don't think it has ever missed a shot. I love it. It's so easy to use. Start by putting in a NEW battery. That's simple and cheap. Then optimize your spacer stack. If you have a non-metallic cleaning rod, stick...

Bolt Extraction problems for Remington 700P, any advice?

Thanks to all who replied. I too am going to run some tests with factory ammo to see if that makes a difference. agbm - Thanks for the video on the Wilson case gauge. That looks very useful. I'm gonna order one. In the interim, I used my Stoney Point (now Hornady) headspace gauge to...

Bolt Extraction problems for Remington 700P, any advice?

Weird! I've got something very similar thing going on with my nearly new Remington 700 5R in .223. One round in 5 requires an extra tug to pull the bolt back and maybe one in 15 requires hammering the bolt handle back to start the extraction of the fired case. (Just using my hand so far.)...

Recommendations for a Removable Muzzle Brake

Guys, thanks for the input! Since I'm not going to be taking it off that often, I decided to just go with a conventional threaded brake. Ordered a JEC Custom today. We'll see how it turns out...

Recommendations for a Removable Muzzle Brake

My friend "Mr. Google" helped me find some of the other muzzle brake threads here on the Hide. Here they are: Last Week's "What's the Best Brake" Thread (2014): https://www.snipershide.com/shooting/snipers-hide-bolt-action-rifles/236937-compensator-muzzle-break-reviews-suggestions.html JEC...

Recommendations for a Removable Muzzle Brake

So, are those wrench flats on the top and bottom of the Badger FTE? or just styling? Any reason for recommending the "mini" FTE over the full-size? What do you guys think? Are big ports like this better? or smaller ones? Thanks!

Recommendations for a Removable Muzzle Brake

I'm building a new 6.5x47L bolt gun and I want a muzzle brake, but it has to be removable, since some of the matches that I might shoot in don't allow brakes. Brake effectiveness and easy removal/reattachment are the prime considerations, more so than cost or looks. Since I'm stuck in...

    6.5x284 still as relevant?

+1 for 6.5x55 Improved. Mine only had a 30-degree shoulder, so it's wasn't the full "Ackley" treatement, but it was a superb performer. Unfortunately, it was hobbled by being built on a short action. I'm actually thinking about doing it all over again, but on a long action this time.

Best 5 shot @ 1000 yards to date

Looks like only about 3 inches of vertical spread. That's just 0.3 MOA* at 1000 yds. Very nice! *That's 0.1 mil for you Jarhead-types. :D

    Gun Vice & Chronograph

I have a serious gun "vice". Way too many guns and gear. My wife would much rather spend that money on furniture and vacations. :D As for a "vise" to hold your gun, they're useful for cleaning, but not for shooting. Short of buying a rail gun, the only way to shoot your rifle better is to...

6.5x47L at One Mile using JLK 130's

I tried RL-15 in one of my previous guns (also 6.5x47L). So far, I'm liking RL-17, but don't have long-term experience with it.

6.5x47L at One Mile using JLK 130's

No problems. I just sight over the top of the rail. I've got good eyes! :) P.S. I do get slightly better results when the IOR 3-18x42 FFP is mounted on the rail.

    Rifle Scopes Budget Scope Decision

+1 for Weaver Grand Slam. They have very accurate and repeatable tracking. At this price point, tracking is more important than optics. (Good optics cost W-A-Y more than $250.) Sightron uses a similar tracking system, but they're more expensive. ($700+) Bushie 3200 10X would be my second...

    Rifle Scopes H58 vs. H59

+1 for center dots. I've got an IOR 3-18x42 FFP with their modified MP-8 reticle and I love the dot.

Re barrel tikka or just buy a new setup. What would you do?

The rail is by EGW and the bottom metal is CDI. It takes AI mags. The stock was bedded by Manners. You can see more photos and details here: http://www.snipershide.com/shooting/firearms-sale/178407-tikka-custom-6-5x47-manners-cdi-ready-rock.html
