The problem with the with it firing when you closed the bolt sounds like the trigger sear and cocking piece engagement isn't enough this happens when someone tries to adjust the creep to much,pre FN factory M70 triggers didn't have an adjustment for creep just pull weight after market triggers...

Re: Need more 375 ct info.. I think your gut is right unless you want to shoot the lathe turned bullets over 375 gr. I just ordered a McGowan with a 1-10 because for what I want to shoot through it the 1-10 is enough...........unless the new Berger,if and whenever it comes out, requires more?

Re: Head space question r700 I would make it simple buy a no go gauge if the bolt closes on it take it back to the smith, with your gauge, show him and tell him to correct his mistake and then never go to him again because he should never have sent it out like that, keep or sell gauge.
Re: Barrel Finish Length Yes, you generally cut 1" off the muzzle end and nothing off the breach end, most custom barrels come cut ready to use length the barrel makers do this before they send them out.

Re: Cheytac claims to be the only one loading .375? I get about 52 loads per pound of retumbo bullets are between 1-2 dollars+ each.Jamison went out of business so cost of brass could be up to 4 or 5 dollars each.
